2027 Ferrari 296 GT Modificata
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 14, 2026
The 2,992 cc twin turbo V6 produces 730 CV and 800 Nm, driving through a six speed sequential gearbox.
Revised aerodynamics include a slotted front splitter and an all new rear wing with 499P inspired endplates.
Production will be extremely limited, exclusively for customers participating in Ferrari's Club Competizioni GT programme.
The 2027 Ferrari 296 GT Modificata takes the 296 GT3 Evo as its starting point, then removes the restrictions that come with racing regulations. The result is a track only Ferrari built specifically for non competitive Club Competizioni GT events.
Presented digitally during Ferrari Racing Days in Budapest, the two seater will be produced in extremely limited numbers. Ferrari says its modifications give the car the potential to lap Fiorano three seconds faster than the 296 GT3 Evo.
GT3 Bodywork Gets More Aggressive Aero
The exterior changes are functional rather than decorative. At the front, Ferrari developed a specific bonnet with a larger main opening to improve thermal management. A vane directs hot air from the central radiator away from the lateral intercoolers, while the vent near the windscreen has also been redesigned.
Below it sits what Ferrari engineers call the Slotted Splitter. It manages airflow underneath the car and increases overall downforce.
The rear wing is completely new, using a single central pylon, a 5 mm Gurney flap and structural endplates inspired by the 499P. The changes are intended to maintain aerodynamic balance as performance increases.
At 5,033 mm long and only 1,082 mm tall, the 296 GT Modificata retains distinctly low racing proportions. Dry weight is listed at 1,330 kg.
Twin Turbo V6 Produces 730 CV
Behind the cabin sits a 2,992 cc 120 degree twin turbo V6 producing 730 CV at 7,500 rpm and 800 Nm at 5,000 rpm. That's 130 CV more than the Balance of Performance restricted 296 GT3 Evo, with specific output reaching 244 CV per litre.
Ferrari revised the cranktrain, camshafts, induction system, intercoolers and turbochargers. Power is handled by a transverse six speed sequential gearbox with new ratios and a carbon clutch.
New ventilated steel front brake discs measure 400 mm, while the rear discs are 332 mm. Both axles use 18 inch racing tires.
Two Seats Make Room for a Coach
Unlike a conventional single purpose race cockpit, the 296 GT Modificata has two seats. Ferrari modified the roll bar to accommodate a passenger, allowing owners to bring an instructor aboard during track sessions. A dedicated passenger footrest and integrated intercom make that arrangement more usable.
Data acquisition equipment, VideoBox Premium, a rear camera, tire pressure and temperature monitoring, professional harnesses and additional cabin cooling are standard.
Built Exclusively for Club Competizioni GT
The 296 GT Modificata follows the 488 GT Modificata and sits within Ferrari's customer track programme rather than its road car range. Purchase includes two years, or 12 rounds, of Club Competizioni GT participation.
That makes its closest reference point Ferrari's own GT racing machinery, but without homologation rules dictating how far the engineering can go.
