By Lorenzo Bianchi July 11, 2026
The Denza Z Spider's three-motor electric powertrain delivers a claimed 217 mph top speed.
Its "Pure Emotion" design language now forms the foundation for the new Z Coupe and Z Racing.
Denza continues expanding its European presence as the UK market launch approaches.
2027 Denza Z Spider Debuts at Goodwood
The 2027 Denza Z Spider may not be the newest member of the growing Z family, but it remains the car that started the story. First shown at Auto China earlier this year, the open-top electric sports car now returns to the spotlight as the design benchmark for the newly revealed Denza Z Coupe and Z Racing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
For Denza, the Spider is more than a concept or a halo model. It introduces the styling direction the brand intends to carry across its future performance cars while helping establish its presence in Europe.
A Shape Designed Around Open Air Driving
The Denza Z Spider has proportions that immediately suggest performance. A low nose, wide track and flowing bodywork give it a purposeful stance, while its open cockpit creates a very different character from the enclosed Coupe.
Its design follows what Denza calls the "Pure Emotion" philosophy, with smooth surfaces and carefully sculpted lines replacing excessive vents or decorative trim. The result is a sports car that appears clean and modern without losing its sense of aggression.
Even before the Coupe and Racing versions arrived, the Spider established the visual identity that now defines the entire Z range.
Everyday Practicality Still Matters
Although the Denza Z Spider sits firmly in the high-performance category, practicality hasn't been forgotten.
The platform supports a two-plus-two seating layout along with a sizeable luggage compartment, making the car more usable than many traditional exotic convertibles. It is a reminder that Denza wants the Z range to appeal not only on a racetrack but also during everyday driving.
That broader usability reflects the company's wider strategy as it prepares for expansion across European markets.
Triple Motors Deliver Serious Performance
Underneath the bodywork is the same advanced three-motor electric powertrain later adopted by the Z Coupe. According to Denza, the system is capable of propelling the Spider to a claimed top speed of 217 mph, placing it among the quickest electric sports cars announced to date.
While the press material focuses primarily on top speed, the shared powertrain also demonstrates the flexibility of Denza's performance platform as additional body styles join the lineup.
A Key Part of Denza's European Expansion
The Spider's appearance at Goodwood comes at an important moment for the brand. Alongside the Z family, Denza is introducing the BAO 5 SUV while preparing for its official UK launch. The Z9GT will become the company's first model for British customers, followed by the D9 DM-i luxury MPV.
