2027 Dacia Spring
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 8, 2026
The second generation Spring is completely redesigned on Renault Group’s RG EV small platform and is built in Slovenia.
A 60 kW (80 hp) motor produces 175 Nm, while the 27.5 kWh LFP battery provides up to 250 km WLTP range.
The entire range costs below €20,000 before subsidies, with Expression and Journey trim levels.
The 2027 Dacia Spring is much more than another update for Dacia’s smallest electric car. The second generation keeps the familiar name, but moves onto Renault Group’s new RG EV small platform and adopts completely different proportions. It is also now built at Novo Mesto in Slovenia.
That change comes after more than 210,000 examples of the original Spring were sold across over 40 countries since 2021. The new car remains firmly in the A segment, with everyday urban use still shaping its engineering.
Wider Body Gives the Spring More Presence
At 3.85 metres long and 1.74 metres wide, the new Spring is 15 cm longer and 18 cm wider than its predecessor. A short, high bonnet, pronounced wheel arches and vertical front and rear ends give the small EV a squarer stance. The press images on pages 1, 2 and 6 make the extra width particularly noticeable.
Black trim connects the lights at both ends, while the lighting signature takes inspiration from Dacia’s Link emblem. Protective black bumper panels use textured, self coloured plastic intended to better tolerate everyday scratches. Four exterior colours are offered: Agave, Schist Grey, Diamond Black and Glacier White.
Cabin Space Grows With the New Platform
The wider footprint pays off inside. Dacia claims one of the roomiest interiors in the electric A segment, while boot capacity reaches 337 litres. Folding the 50:50 rear seat expands that to 1,283 litres. An optional 18 litre frunk provides separate storage for charging cables.
Every Spring gets a 7 inch digital instrument cluster. Journey adds a 10.1 inch Media Nav Live touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected navigation and vehicle functions including charging scheduling and cabin preconditioning.
80 HP Motor Targets Everyday Driving
There is one powertrain across the range. The front electric motor develops 60 kW (80 hp) and 175 Nm, taking the Spring from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds. Top speed is 130 km/h.
Its 27.5 kWh usable LFP battery provides up to 250 km of WLTP combined range. Standard 6.6 kW AC charging takes 2 hours 55 minutes from 15 to 80 percent using a 7 kW wallbox. An optional fast charge pack adds 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC capability, with the same 15 to 80 percent charge taking 28 minutes on DC.
Efficiency is a major part of the equation. Starting weight is 1,212 kg, while WLTP consumption is quoted at 12.7 kWh/100 km.
European Production Keeps the Price Below €20,000
Expression and Journey form a simple two trim range, both sharing the same battery, motor and standard charger. Wheels are 15 inches on Expression and 16 inches on Journey.
Most importantly for the Spring’s position as an entry level EV, Dacia says every version will cost less than €20,000 before government subsidies.
