Updated Platform and 24.3 kWh LFP Battery
The 2026 Dacia Spring Extreme forms part of Dacia’s 2026 product offensive, introducing structural revisions, new powertrains and a revised battery configuration.
At the centre of the update is a new 24.3 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate battery using cell-to-pack technology. The central section of the platform has been reinforced to house it, increasing structural stiffness and optimising weight distribution between the front and rear axles. The objective is improved balance and a more stable driving character.
Spring also gains an anti-roll bar for the first time, standard across the range, working with retuned dampers and springs to enhance cornering stability. Braking assistance has been increased, and 15-inch wheels are standard from the Expression trim upwards.
The changes are technical rather than cosmetic. The intent is clear: to move Spring beyond its original city-car brief without altering its essential simplicity.
New Electric Powertrains and Performance
Two new electric powertrains rated at 70 hp (52 kW) and 100 hp (75 kW) replace the previous 45 hp and 65 hp units. Torque and mid-range response between 80 and 120 km/h improve by up to 20%, according to Dacia’s data.
That additional output is significant in context. Spring is no longer confined strictly to urban duty. Its new drivetrain makes it easier to incorporate into secondary roads and motorway traffic, increasing its usefulness without pursuing performance metrics.
The 2026 Dacia Spring Extreme retains a WLTP combined range of 225 km on versions fitted with 15-inch wheels. Energy consumption stands at 12.4 kWh per 100 km, representing a 9% improvement over the previous generation.
For buyers tracking EV efficiency metrics, those numbers place Spring among the most frugal electric vehicles currently on sale in Europe.
Aerodynamic Revisions and Exterior Character
Aerodynamics have been refined with a faired underbody at the front, sides and rear to reduce turbulence beneath the car. A new rear spoiler limits airflow disruption at the top of the tailgate. These measures reduce CdA to 0.660 with 14-inch wheels and 0.665 with 15-inch wheels, compared with 0.745 and 0.743 previously.
Visually, Spring remains compact and upright, with short overhangs and a high roofline. The stance is purposeful rather than ornamental. Surfaces are flat, edges are defined, and the proportions favour interior space over aesthetic indulgence.
The Extreme trim [Inference] suggests a more distinctive specification within the range, though the mechanical changes apply across the updated model.
Positioning in the Entry EV Segment
In Europe’s entry-level EV segment, the 2026 Dacia Spring Extreme continues to prioritise accessibility and efficiency. While larger electric crossovers increasingly dominate the market, Spring retains its compact footprint and modest battery capacity, focusing on daily commuting patterns.
Dacia notes that customers typically cover around 34 km per day at an average speed of 34 km/h. Against that usage profile, a 225 km WLTP range supports a full working week between charges.
On deadline, the impression is measured. The 2026 Dacia Spring Extreme does not attempt to reinvent the electric formula. It refines it. More power, better balance, lower consumption. The philosophy remains intact.
