The 2027 BMW 740 xDrive produces 394 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque from an updated six-cylinder petrol engine, accelerating from 0–60 mph in under five seconds.
The optional M Sport Package adds redesigned bumpers, 20-inch M aerodynamic wheels, Dark Blue M Sport brake calipers and high-gloss Shadowline exterior detailing.
The redesigned 7 Series introduces BMW Panoramic Vision, a 17.9-inch Central Display and a standard 14.6-inch Passenger Screen. US pricing for the 740 xDrive starts at $102,800.
BMW 740 xDrive M Sport Receives Updated Exterior Design
BMW has introduced the 2027 BMW 740 xDrive M Sport Package G70 as part of its updated seventh-generation 7 Series, combining revised exterior styling with Neue Klasse technology.
The flagship sedan debuted on April 22, 2026, during simultaneous presentations in New York and Beijing.
The optional M Sport Package gives the six-cylinder luxury sedan different bumper designs, additional black exterior detailing and dedicated M equipment.
Revised Kidney Grille and M Aerodynamics
The front features a slimmer, more upright Iconic Glow kidney grille with horizontal illumination.
Narrow daytime running lights sit above the main headlights, while optional BMW Individual crystal headlights contain twelve glass elements per side.
With M Sport specified, the front bumper receives larger air intakes, prominent air curtains and black aerodynamic sections.
The M Aerodynamics Package also introduces redesigned side skirts and a rear diffuser, visually separating the M Sport model from the regular 740 xDrive.
20 Inch M Wheels and Extended Sedan Proportions
The 7 Series retains its elongated profile, with broad body surfaces and a character line extending from the front apron towards the rear.
New flush-mounted door handles reduce interruptions along the side panels.
M Sport equipment includes 20-inch M aerodynamic wheels, M Sport brakes with Dark Blue metallic calipers and high-gloss Shadowline window surrounds.
The rear features slimmer taillights with smoked glass and internal chrome detailing.
A redesigned lower bumper continues the angular M Sport treatment.
Panoramic iDrive and M Sport Interior
Inside, the 740 xDrive receives BMW Panoramic iDrive running Operating System X.
Panoramic Vision projects information across the lower windscreen, while a floating 17.9-inch Central Display handles major vehicle functions.
A standard 14.6-inch Passenger Screen allows the front passenger to access entertainment independently.
The M Sport interior can be specified with Black and Atlas Grey Merino leather, while optional Carbon Fiber M trim introduces Silver Threads and Piano Black surfaces.
Front seats include electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage functions.
Updated Six Cylinder Engine Produces 394 HP
Under the bonnet, BMW's updated inline-six petrol engine produces 394 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque.
A revised turbocharger contributes to the increased output.
BMW quotes acceleration from 0–60 mph in less than five seconds, with maximum speed electronically limited to 155 mph.
The updated 7 Series also offers Level 2 driver assistance and optional Adaptive Chassis Control Professional for selected variants.
Rear Passenger Technology and US Pricing
Rear occupants can specify a 31.3-inch BMW Theater Screen featuring 8K resolution, HDMI connectivity and Zoom video calling.
Optional Executive Lounge seating provides extended reclining adjustment and integrated leg support.
BMW also offers automatic doors, a digital interior mirror and additional parking assistance functions.
The 2027 BMW 740 xDrive starts at $102,800 in the United States, excluding the $1,550 destination charge.
Production begins in July 2026 at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in Germany.
