2026 Toyota Tacoma Snowhunter Concept
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 28, 2026
The 2026 Toyota Tacoma Snowhunter Concept is part of Toyota's five-vehicle winter expedition collection developed for the 2026 SEMA Show.
White powder-coated snow tracks, Toyota Genuine and TRD lift components, bespoke camouflage and Rigid lighting distinguish the modified pickup.
A roof rack, full-length bed rack with MOLLE panels, awning, cargo storage and recovery equipment prepare the Tacoma for remote winter travel.
Toyota Tacoma Snowhunter Concept Heads to SEMA 2026
Toyota has introduced the 2026 Toyota Tacoma Snowhunter Concept, a modified pickup designed to demonstrate how its body-on-frame platform could be adapted for deep-snow exploration.
Developed for the 2026 SEMA Show, the Tacoma is one of five Snowhunter vehicles, alongside the Tundra, 4Runner, Land Cruiser and Sequoia.
CALTY Design Research in Ann Arbor, Michigan, led the design programme, giving all five concepts a common winter-focused appearance while retaining different equipment configurations.
Snowhunter Camouflage and Auxiliary Lighting
The Tacoma Snowhunter retains its pickup body layout but receives extensive changes to its exterior equipment.
A bespoke Snowhunter camouflage pattern covers the bodywork, accompanied by dedicated badging and gloss-black accents.
Rigid auxiliary lighting forms part of the conversion, with additional illumination integrated into the expedition equipment.
The truck's appearance remains closely related to the regular Tacoma, although the raised suspension and tracked running gear noticeably change its proportions.
White Snow Tracks and Raised Pickup Stance
The most significant modification is the replacement of conventional wheels with white powder-coated snow track assemblies.
These extend beneath the front and rear wheel arches, creating a much taller and more specialised appearance.
Toyota Genuine Parts and TRD lift components support the modified arrangement.
Unlike a conventional off-road pickup riding on all-terrain tires, the Snowhunter is configured around equipment intended for travelling through deeper snow.
MOLLE Bed Rack and Expedition Equipment
The Tacoma receives a roof rack and a full-length bed rack equipped with MOLLE panels.
These provide mounting locations for equipment needed during extended journeys.
An awning adds shelter alongside the vehicle, while separate cargo storage and recovery equipment support self-contained travel.
Bed lighting provides illumination around the pickup's load area.
This combination separates the Tacoma from the other Snowhunter concepts. The Tundra, for example, uses a CALTY-designed TrailLift Pro Rack System, while the Land Cruiser carries a dedicated ski rack.
A Winter Expedition Prototype
The Tacoma Snowhunter has been developed as a special project rather than an announced production model.
Its equipment illustrates a possible configuration for narrow winter trails, changing conditions and self-supported travel.
Toyota cautions that prototype modifications may affect vehicle performance, safety and warranty coverage. Some components may also prevent legal road use.
