2026 Toyota C-HR SE

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Dual-motor AWD with 338 combined system horsepower.

  • EPA-estimated 287-mile range on SE with 18-inch wheels.

  • 74.7-kWh battery with NACS port and 10–80% fast charge in ~30 minutes under ideal conditions.

Compact Coupe Form on e TNGA Architecture

The 2026 Toyota C-HR SE joins Toyota’s growing battery electric vehicle portfolio as an all-new compact SUV. Built on the dedicated e-TNGA BEV platform, it adopts a wide stance and coupe-like silhouette, defined by Toyota’s hammerhead front fascia flowing into a compact cabin and angular rear.

The proportions are deliberate. Overall length measures 177.9 inches, width 73.6 inches, height 63.8 inches, with a 108.3-inch wheelbase. The low roofline and broad shoulders give the C-HR SE a planted look, yet the packaging remains practical. Cargo capacity reaches up to 25.3 cubic feet behind the 60/40 split rear seats and 59.5 cubic feet with them folded flat.

On the SE grade, 18-inch wheels with black inserts fill the arches. Low-profile roof rails and a power liftgate come standard, reinforcing its everyday usability.

Dual Motor Output and Driving Character

Performance figures are consistent across grades. The 2026 Toyota C-HR SE features dual electric motors mounted in front and rear eAxles, delivering 338 combined system horsepower with standard electronic all-wheel drive. Toyota estimates a 0–60 mph time of 4.9 seconds.

The 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery is mounted underfloor, contributing to a low center of gravity. Toyota notes additional cross-framing around the battery structure for rigidity, with suspension components tuned specifically for the C-HR, including spring and damper performance and anti-roll bar stiffness. The technical brief suggests a compact electric SUV engineered with attention to balance and body control rather than outright spectacle.

Charging Capability and Range

The SE grade carries an EPA-estimated total range of 287 miles when equipped with 18-inch wheels. An 11-kW onboard AC charger is standard, along with a dual-voltage 120V/240V charging cable.

Every 2026 Toyota C-HR SE includes a North American Charging System port, allowing access to a broad network of DC fast-charging stations. Under ideal conditions, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes using DC fast charging. Plug & Charge capability and battery preconditioning are also integrated, aimed at simplifying public charging and optimizing temperature before rapid replenishment.

Interior Layout and Standard Technology

Inside, the C-HR SE presents a clean, horizontal layout with a slim driver display and a 14-inch touchscreen running Toyota Audio Multimedia. A fully digital gauge cluster is standard.

Fabric and SofTex-trimmed seating is fitted, with an eight-way power driver’s seat and six-way manual passenger seat. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are included. Two front wireless smartphone chargers and four USB-Type C ports support connectivity.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, joined by Blind Spot Monitor and Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking. The safety and driver assistance suite reflects the model’s positioning as a mainstream compact BEV rather than a niche derivative.

Market Context

The 2026 Toyota C-HR SE becomes Toyota’s third BEV in the U.S. lineup and part of a broader 21-model electrified portfolio. In a segment defined by compact electric crossovers, the C-HR SE presents a measured approach: competitive range, standard AWD performance and a distinctive coupe profile packaged within a practical footprint.
