2026 Toyota bZ Woodland BEV Steel

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • 375-hp dual-motor AWD with X-MODE and Grip Control.

  • Up to 281 miles EPA-estimated range, 74.7 kWh battery.

  • 8.4 inches ground clearance and 3,500-lb towing capacity.

Rugged Expansion of Toyota’s bZ Lineup

Toyota has introduced the first-ever 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland BEV Premium as the most rugged entry in its battery-electric lineup.

Positioned as a more adventurous counterpart to the existing bZ, the Woodland variant arrives with standard all-wheel drive and a clear emphasis on utility.

The visual changes are deliberate. The familiar hammerhead front end remains, but it is framed by black overfenders that give the nose a broader, more planted look. The body stretches nearly six inches longer than the standard bZ and rises just under an inch at the rear, proportions that subtly shift its stance toward that of a midsize SUV. Roof rails come standard, reinforcing its intended role as a gear-hauler rather than a commuter-only EV.

Cargo space reflects that positioning. With the second row folded flat, the Woodland offers 74.3 cubic feet of storage, compared with 67.1 cubic feet in the regular bZ. On paper it is a modest difference. In practice, it changes how the vehicle is used.

375 Horsepower and Real SUV Capability

Underneath, the 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland BEV Premium runs a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system producing a net combined 375 horsepower

Toyota estimates a 0–60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, placing it firmly in performance territory for a family-oriented electric SUV

All-wheel drive comes standard with X-MODE and Grip Control. The system manages brake control and power delivery at the wheels to enhance traction, particularly at low speeds and in adverse conditions.

It is a measured, controlled approach to capability rather than a headline-grabbing one. Ground clearance sits at 8.4 inches, and towing capacity is rated at up to 3,500 pounds. These figures, combined with available all-terrain tires, place the Woodland in a space that blends EV efficiency with traditional SUV expectations.

Battery, Charging and Range

Power comes from a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. EPA-estimated driving range reaches up to 281 miles, dropping to 260 miles when equipped with optional all-terrain tires

The vehicle uses a North American Charging System (NACS) port compatible with Level 3 DC fast charging. Under ideal conditions, Toyota states it can charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

Battery pre-conditioning is included, designed to bring the pack to optimal temperature for faster charging, either manually or automatically via navigation routing to a fast charger.

An 11-kW onboard charger supports Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging, and a dual-voltage 120V/240V home charging cable is standard.

Premium Cabin and Connected Technology

Inside, the Premium grade builds on the Woodland specification with ventilated front seats, front-seat radiant heaters, driver seat memory, a digital rearview mirror and a panoramic fixed-glass roof with power sunshade. Audio is handled by a JBL 9-speaker system with subwoofer and amplifier.

A 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen anchors the dashboard, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual Bluetooth connectivity and integrated streaming services.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard, along with Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and a Panoramic View Monitor.
