Dual-motor Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is paired with 211 mm of ground clearance and X-Mode.
Subaru's Electric SUV Range Grows Larger
The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker Touring Australian Version arrives as the flagship of Subaru's expanding electric lineup. Sitting above the Solterra and alongside the newly introduced Uncharted, it targets buyers who want the practicality of a large SUV without giving up the off-road capability that has long been associated with the Subaru badge.
While many electric SUVs have leaned heavily toward urban lifestyles, the Trailseeker Touring appears to have been developed with a broader brief. Long-distance travel, gravel roads, camping trips and everyday commuting all seem to have influenced its design.
A Low And Wide Take On The Electric SUV
At first glance, the Trailseeker Touring doesn't follow the traditional upright SUV formula.
Its long wheelbase, wide stance and relatively low roofline give it more of an all-terrain wagon appearance than a conventional crossover. Subaru says the battery is mounted low within the e-Subaru Global Platform, helping create a lower centre of gravity while maintaining 211 mm of ground clearance.
The front end adopts Subaru's latest EV styling language, while the side profile is shaped by strong character lines and a sculpted bonnet. Around the back, a near full-width LED light bar creates a distinctive signature that is easy to identify at night.
Aerodynamic details also play an important role. An enlarged roof spoiler, rear side spoilers and revised rear bumper design have all been developed to manage airflow and contribute to driving range efficiency.
Touring Grade Brings A More Premium Cabin
Inside, the Touring variant moves further upmarket than the standard Trailseeker.
A 14-inch touchscreen sits at the centre of the dashboard, supported by a 7-inch driver display positioned directly ahead of the steering wheel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with dual wireless charging pads and a digital rear-view mirror.
Touring-specific equipment includes leather-accented blue and black upholstery, ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade and a ten-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The cabin itself feels focused on usability, retaining physical controls for commonly used functions rather than moving everything into touchscreen menus.
Dual Motors Deliver Strong Performance
Power comes from a dual-motor electric drivetrain producing a combined 280 kW.
That output makes the Trailseeker Touring the most powerful production Subaru offered in Australia to date. Subaru quotes a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 4.5 seconds, placing it comfortably among the quicker electric SUVs in its segment.
A 74.7 kWh CATL lithium-ion battery provides a WLTP driving range of up to 488 km in Touring specification. The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in around 30 minutes under suitable conditions.
Built For Adventure Beyond The City
The Trailseeker Touring's appeal goes beyond acceleration figures.
Dual-Mode X-Mode, Grip Control, Driving Trajectory Prediction Control and Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system are designed to maintain traction across loose or slippery surfaces. Touring models also add a 220-volt Vehicle-to-Load outlet, allowing the battery to power camping equipment, lighting and small appliances away from mains electricity.
With generous cargo space, integrated roof rails and a lengthy equipment list, the Trailseeker Touring occupies a distinctive position in Australia's growing EV market. It combines the practicality expected of a family SUV with the type of all-terrain capability that Subaru customers have traditionally valued.
