Subaru Expands Its EV Lineup With A Larger Adventure SUV

The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker Touring gives Subaru’s electric lineup a more rugged and spacious direction. Positioned above the Solterra in size and practicality, the new EV arrives with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a dual-motor setup producing 375 horsepower and a starting MSRP of $46,555.

At first glance, the Trailseeker feels familiar. The upright proportions, tall roofline and raised stance lean heavily into Subaru’s established outdoor identity rather than trying to reinvent the EV SUV formula. It still looks like something intended for dirt roads, ski trips and roof-mounted cargo boxes.

Subaru says the Trailseeker offers 8.5 inches of ground clearance alongside X-MODE dual-mode terrain settings for snow, mud and loose surfaces.

Touring Trim Adds More Presence And Comfort

The Touring model builds on the Premium and Limited trims with a more polished appearance and a handful of upscale details. Gloss black hood accents, a panoramic glass roof and larger wheel options give the SUV a slightly more premium look without losing the rugged undertone that defines the rest of the vehicle.

The exterior also introduces Subaru’s latest EV lighting signature. An illuminated six-star logo, redesigned headlamps and a cleaner front fascia help distinguish the Trailseeker from Subaru’s combustion-powered SUVs. At the rear, the illuminated SUBARU branding stretches across the tailgate with a more modern nighttime appearance.

Compared to the Solterra, the Trailseeker is more than six inches longer and nearly an inch taller, which noticeably changes its proportions. The longer body gives the SUV a more wagon-like profile from certain angles, particularly with the extended rear overhang and flatter roofline.

Largest Subaru Touchscreen Yet

Inside, the cabin is dominated by a 14-inch touchscreen, the largest display Subaru has fitted to a production vehicle so far. Metallic trim pieces running across the dashboard help widen the visual space, while the horizontal layout keeps the interior looking relatively uncluttered.

Touring models add ventilated front seats, radiant leg warmers and optional blue-and-black leather upholstery. Subaru also includes dual wireless charging pads and a large center console intended to handle the everyday clutter that tends to accumulate in family SUVs.

Practicality remains central to the package. The Trailseeker offers 32.2 cubic feet of cargo space, roof rails with a 700-pound static load rating and towing capacity rated at 3,500 pounds.

Fast Charging And Strong Straight-Line Pace

Power comes from a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery paired with Subaru’s revised all-wheel-drive system. Subaru estimates approximately 281 miles of range on a full charge, while DC fast charging at up to 150 kW can replenish the battery to 80 percent in roughly 28 minutes.

Performance numbers are unusually aggressive for a Subaru-branded SUV. The company claims a 0-60 mph time of just 4.4 seconds, making the Trailseeker the quickest production Subaru sold in the United States to date.

The Touring trim ultimately feels less like a futuristic experiment and more like an electric Outback evolved for a different era.
