Inspired by a Rare Widebody Carrera
The 2026 Singer Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet builds on a specific chapter in 911 history. Its reference point is the wide-bodied, naturally aspirated Carrera Cabriolet of the 1980s—an uncommon specification that paired Turbo-look arches with a flat six rather than forced induction.
Singer’s latest services reinterpret that formula for the twenty-first century. Each commission begins with an owner-supplied Type 964, stripped to its steel monocoque before undergoing chassis assessment and reinforcement. Composite and steel strengthening are applied to improve torsional rigidity before carbon-fibre bodywork is fitted.
The proportions remain unmistakably 911. Wide front and rear arches define the silhouette, while a deep front spoiler manages airflow and cooling. Buyers may specify a fixed rear wing or a speed-activated element, echoing period options that once included the famous whale tail.
A Reborn 4.0 Litre Flat Six
At the centre of the project sits a 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated flat six based on the Type 964 engine, restored and developed by Singer with engineering support from Cosworth.
It produces 420 bhp and revs to over 8,000 rpm.
The engine incorporates four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing and a hybrid cooling strategy combining water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders and an electrically powered fan.
The result broadens torque delivery while maintaining the immediacy associated with naturally aspirated 911s.
Power is delivered exclusively through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. An exposed raised gear shifter can be specified, underlining the mechanical focus of the car. A newly developed titanium exhaust system provides a freer-breathing soundtrack, particularly with the roof lowered.
Lightweight Roof and Carbon Construction
A newly engineered “Z pattern” folding roof mechanism reduces weight while preserving a clean profile in both raised and lowered positions.
It reflects Singer’s emphasis on structural integrity and visual clarity rather than nostalgia alone.
Carbon-fibre body panels reduce mass and increase stiffness. The strengthened monocoque and composite reinforcement system provide a rigid foundation for suspension, braking and steering refinement .
Chassis Control and Braking
Four-way adjustable dampers with electronic damping control can be tuned from the driver’s seat. A nose lift system is integrated, acknowledging real-world usability.
Carbon-ceramic brakes, developed through Singer’s DLS programme, may be specified behind 18-inch centre-lock wheels.
Traction control, ABS and electronic stability systems are developed with Bosch, with five selectable drive modes—Road, Sport, Track, Off and Weather—allowing drivers to calibrate intervention levels.
Personalised Interiors and Limited Production
Inside, Singer maintains its focus on craft. Owners may request lightweight sports or track seats, bespoke leather finishes and hand-built gauges inspired by traditional watchmaking. Technology is integrated discreetly, with navigation and phone connectivity available without overwhelming the analogue ethos.
