A Sharper, More Assertive Evolution
Renault’s latest Clio arrives as a complete redesign, and in Esprit Alpine form, the car takes on its most athletic interpretation. The sixth-generation model grows to 4.12 m in length and 1.77 m in width, giving it a more confident stance than before
The front end carries the new brand identity with a strong, sculpted bonnet, a widened track, and a lighting signature framed by tall daytime-running elements. On the Esprit Alpine version, the details sharpen further: gloss-black wheel-arch surrounds, exclusive 18-inch designs, and titanium-inspired dashboard trim.
Proportions feel more grown-up. The steep rear window, extended roofline, and deeper body volumes create a silhouette closer to a compact coupé than a traditional city hatchback. The deeper character lines and recessed rear surfaces add visual tension without compromising the car’s familiar compact footprint.
Interior Identity and Alpine Influence
Inside, the Esprit Alpine specification elevates the regular Clio cabin with Alcantara inserts and a titanium spectral finish on dashboard edges—a nod to racing exhaust coloration, achieved through a gradient chroming process
The seat textiles use recycled fibres, forming part of a wider sustainability effort that sees 92% of fabrics in this trim sourced from recycled materials.
The dashboard architecture features the familiar OpenR layout, with dual displays up to 10.1 inches (depending on configuration) and Renault’s OpenR Link system powered by Google. Ambient lighting spans the front passenger area, with 48 selectable colors. Practicality remains strong, with 391 litres of luggage volume depending on powertrain.
E-Tech 160: The Hybrid Flagship
Exclusively available on the full-hybrid E-Tech 160, the Esprit Alpine trim is tied to the most advanced powertrain in the Clio range. The system pairs a new 1.8-liter engine with two electric motors and an upgraded 1.4 kWh battery, orchestrated by a multimode gearbox now capable of 15 operating combinations.
Outputs rise to 160 hp, improving response and reducing fuel consumption. Acceleration to 100 km/h is listed at 8.3 seconds, while mixed fuel consumption is as low as 3.9 L/100 km with 89 g/km CO₂ emissions. Renault states the hybrid system can operate in full-electric mode up to 80% of urban driving, and total range can reach 1,000 km under ideal conditions.
Driving Technology and Safety Systems
Renault equips the new Clio with up to 29 ADAS functions, many inherited from upper segments. Highlights include Active Driver Assist, adaptive cruise with intelligent speed adaptation, high-definition 360° cameras, fatigue detection, and a new emergency stop function that can bring the vehicle to a halt if the driver becomes unresponsive
Sound insulation and aero refinements also improve cabin refinement. The new design reduces drag from 0.32 to 0.30, aided by redesigned mirrors, wheels, and underbody elements.
Positioning in the Market
With the 2026 Clio E-Tech Esprit Alpine, Renault presents its most complete interpretation of the model yet—combining elevated cabin materials, a more efficient hybrid system, and a noticeably more technical design language. In a segment where electrified hatchbacks are increasingly common, the Clio positions itself as a technology-forward alternative with a strong performance and efficiency focus.
