2026 Peugeot E-308 GT European Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Updated front design introduces illuminated Peugeot emblem and revised lighting.

  • Full range of powertrains spans electric, plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid, and diesel.

  • New digital services and EV-focused tech expand everyday usability.

Design and Proportions of the Vehicle

The 2026 Peugeot 308 does not chase novelty for its own sake. Instead, it sharpens an already confident shape. The proportions remain familiar: a low nose, pronounced shoulders, and a compact hatchback footprint that reads planted rather than delicate. From the press images, the car still sits firmly in the C-segment mainstream, but the detailing has been tightened.

At the front, the most notable change is the illuminated Peugeot emblem, appearing for the first time on the 308 range from GT trim upward. It is integrated into a newly sculpted grille that blends more seamlessly with the bodywork, with grille elements spaced wider at the center and tightening toward the edges. Above it, a fine pattern of light lines visually stretches the nose into the headlights.

Lighting remains a brand signature. The three-claw LED daytime running lights are slimmer and more defined, mirrored at the rear within a black horizontal strip. The result is a cleaner, more assertive face without altering the underlying body panels. New wheel designs and fresh exterior colors, including Lagoa Blue, add subtle variation rather than visual drama.

Performance and Powertrain Overview

Peugeot’s strategy for the 2026 308 is breadth rather than focus. The car is outfitted with four distinct powertrain families to satisfy a range of consumer preferences.

The electrification revolution revolves around the Peugeot E 308.

It has a combined WLTP range of up to 450 km because of a 58.3 kWh battery and a 115 kW electric motor.

Drivers can customize the deceleration feel and energy recovery of regenerative braking by using steering wheel paddles.

Alongside it sits a plug-in hybrid producing a combined 195 PS, offering up to 81–82 km of electric range under WLTP combined testing. For those taking a first step into electrification, Peugeot also offers a 48V mild hybrid rated at 145 PS, designed to deliver smoother low-speed response and reduced fuel consumption. Diesel remains available as well, reflecting Peugeot’s continued recognition of long-distance European driving patterns.

Key Features and Interior Impression

Inside, the 308 continues with the i-Cockpit layout, defined by a compact steering wheel and a high-set digital instrument cluster. With a 10-inch center touchscreen neatly incorporated into the grille, the dashboard architecture stays horizontal and driver-focused.

Material quality has been refined rather than reinvented. Aluminum trim, Alcantara on higher trims, and configurable ambient lighting underline a premium ambition without overstating it. The configurable i-Toggles beneath the screen allow quick access to key functions, a small detail that improves day-to-day usability.

Connectivity is a growing focus. Over-the-air updates are standard, while features such as Plug & Charge, V2L capability, and expanded EV route planning arrive from spring 2026. The system supports remote climate control and charging management via the MyPeugeot app, reinforcing the 308’s role as a connected daily car rather than a technology showcase.

Positioning in the Market and Segment Context

The 2026 Peugeot 308 is still aimed at the core of the European C-segment, going up against vehicles like the Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf, and Opel Astra. The positioning of Peugeot is evident. The 308 gives consumers a choice between diesel and fully electric vehicles inside a single, thoughtful design, rather than requiring them to choose a single electrification approach.

Production is still located in Mulhouse, France, and Peugeot's extended coverage programs highlight long-term ownership and durability. The updated 308 does not seek to disrupt its segment. Instead, it reinforces Peugeot’s belief that refinement, design identity, and powertrain flexibility still matter in a rapidly electrifying market.
