2026 Opel STX Concept
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 12, 2026
- The 2026 Opel STX Concept previews the next generation of electric estate cars, featuring a lower silhouette, sculpted bodywork and an updated Opel Vizor front.
- Aerodynamic features include extendable rear diffusers, movable bumper elements and three section alloy wheels fitted with 285/35 R22 Goodyear tyres.
- The concept uses an electric all wheel drive architecture with a top speed exceeding 200 km/h.
Opel STX Concept Brings a New Shape to the Electric Estate
The 2026 Opel STX Concept has been revealed ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show, presenting a new interpretation of the traditional estate car. Developed in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the study explores how Opel intends to combine cargo carrying practicality with the efficiency requirements of electric driving.
STX stands for Sports Tourer eXperimental, connecting the concept with Opel's existing Sports Tourer models, including the Astra Sports Tourer.
The German manufacturer has a long history in this segment, dating back to the Olympia Rekord Caravan introduced in 1953. The STX takes that familiar body style in a different direction, with a lower profile, more elaborate lighting and several moving aerodynamic components.
Taller Opel Vizor and a Sharply Defined Rear
The front features a revised Opel Vizor, now taller and more prominent than the design used on current production models.
Angled vertical lighting elements frame the outer edges and gradually fade toward the centre. The illuminated Opel Blitz sits within the familiar Compass arrangement, while a pronounced crease runs along the bonnet.
At the rear, the roofline drops sharply toward the tailgate, retaining the additional luggage space associated with an estate body.
Slim horizontal taillights sit beside illuminated OPEL lettering. Glass lighting strips extend from the C pillars into the roof, giving the upper section a distinctive appearance.
Low Silver and Blue Body With Active Aerodynamics
From the side, the STX displays a long, low silhouette with short overhangs and pronounced wheel arches.
Its silver and blue bodywork includes illuminated STX lettering, while compact cameras replace conventional door mirrors.
The three section alloy wheels use an aerodynamic design and carry 285/35 R22 Goodyear tyres.
There is more happening beneath the rear bumper. At suitable speeds, blue diffuser elements extend outward, accompanied by vertical sections behind the wheels that move sideways to manage airflow.
Opel says these systems are intended to reduce drag and improve stability during high speed driving.
Electric All Wheel Drive and Future Interior Technology
The STX Concept uses an electric architecture with all wheel drive and a claimed top speed of more than 200 km/h.
Opel has not disclosed motor output, battery capacity, charging performance or estimated driving range.
The interior remains a development study, following the Painting with Light approach previously explored in the 2023 Opel Experimental and 2025 Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo.
Lightweight seating and immersive cabin lighting are planned as part of that design direction, although detailed interior specifications have not been announced.
Future Opel Estate Models and Practicality
The STX is not a confirmed production vehicle. Its purpose is to explore styling and technology that could influence future Opel models.
Despite its low roofline, the steeply descending rear section is intended to preserve useful cargo space. Opel has not provided exact luggage capacity or exterior dimensions.
For now, the STX provides a look at how the brand plans to develop its Sports Tourer range for the electric era, combining familiar estate practicality with more advanced aerodynamic solutions.
