2026 Nissan Leaf EV Autech Japanese Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Distinctive Autech styling: Custom front and rear protectors, exclusive LED lighting, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

  • Premium interior treatment: TailorFit seats with blue stitching and bespoke Autech detailing throughout.

  • Limited Japanese debut: Orders open October 17, deliveries begin January 2026.

The 2026 Nissan Leaf EV Autech Japanese Version is a reminder that subtle craftsmanship can speak louder than radical change. Based on the all-new third-generation Leaf, this Autech edition takes Nissan’s crossover EV foundation and gives it a distinctly Japanese form of elegance — equal parts precision, sportiness, and quiet sophistication

Autech, Nissan’s in-house customization arm based in Chigasaki, has built a loyal following for giving standard models a sharper edge. The new Leaf Autech continues that lineage, combining the 78 kWh B7 powertrain — good for up to 702 km of range — with design cues inspired by the sea and sky of the brand’s birthplace

Crafted to Catch Light

Visually, the Autech version refines the standard Leaf’s aerodynamic crossover shape with a handful of tasteful adjustments. The front and rear lower sections gain metal-finish protectors, matched by Autech badging and mirror housings in metallic trim. The front bumper carries a new LED signature inspired by the “wake waves” of a boat, a small but striking reference to the coastal identity of Autech’s design studio.

A dot-pattern finisher reflects the sparkle of light on water, tying the theme together. The car’s stance is lowered visually by the addition of exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels, finished in a dark metallic tone with sculpted spokes that look carved rather than stamped. It’s understated, but the sum of these changes gives the Leaf Autech a composed, muscular presence that doesn’t need loud colors to stand out

The body color palette stays tight and sophisticated: five total, including the Autech-exclusive Deep Ocean Blue with a Super Black roof, plus Prism White and Dark Metal Gray finishes. The blue-and-black two-tone setup, in particular, suits the model’s theme — moody and calm, yet quietly assertive.

Black with a hint of blue inside

The interior adheres to the same principle: restraint through refinement. Beginning with TailorFit seats, a next-generation material created for its supportive feel and supple touch, every surface has been meticulously treated. The entire cabin is dressed in black, from door panels to seat belts, punctuated by Autech’s signature blue stitching and piping across the dash.

It’s not showy, but it’s cohesive — a cabin that feels built for people who notice details, not just features. Even the steering wheel and armrest receive bespoke stitching, while small Autech emblems add a sense of craft.

Same Smooth Power, Sharper Character

Underneath, it’s still the Leaf B7 — a 160 kW motor producing 355 Nm of torque, powered by a 78 kWh battery. Nissan’s advanced 3-in-1 motor unit and multi-link rear suspension remain unchanged, preserving the calm, linear driving character of the standard model. And while Autech’s tweaks are mostly aesthetic, they subtly reinforce the Leaf’s new identity as a more premium, design-conscious EV.

Deliveries in Japan begin January 2026, with the smaller B5 trim arriving later in spring. Pricing starts at ¥6,513,100 — not mass-market territory, but fair for a model this thoughtfully detailed.
