Navy Blue becomes a new signature colour for the all-new Mazda CX-5.
Evolved Kodo design sharpens stance and surfacing without altering proportions.
Interior refinement focuses on space, calmness, and everyday versatility.
An evolution rather than a reset
Mazda’s update of the CX-5 follows a well-established pattern for the brand. The 2026 Mazda CX-5 does not attempt to redefine what the model is. Instead, it builds carefully on a shape that has been instantly recognisable since its debut in 2012. The latest version brings measured design refinements and a new exterior colour, reinforcing the CX-5’s role as Mazda’s most versatile and widely appealing SUV. European showroom arrivals are confirmed for March 2026, with orders already open.
Navy Blue joins the Mazda palette
The most visible change is the introduction of Navy Blue, a new exterior colour making its debut on the all-new CX-5. While Mazda is often associated with red, blue has a long presence in the brand’s history, appearing on models such as the R360 Coupe, Familia, and MX-5. Navy Blue is positioned as a refined, timeless shade rather than a dramatic statement.
Mazda’s designers describe the colour as the result of a global co-creation process between regional design, development, and production teams. Advanced digital and model-based methods were used to translate the original design intent into a production-ready finish. The colour balances different types of mica to create contrast and depth, appearing vivid in bright sunlight while taking on a deeper, more elegant tone under cloudy skies or at night. The goal was familiarity with added sophistication, not novelty.
Kodo design with added presence
Beyond colour, the 2026 CX-5 continues to develop Mazda’s Kodo – Soul of Motion design language. The stance seems more assured, but the general silhouette stays the same. A broader track, an elevated front, and muscular wheel arches all enhance visual stability.
New linear LED lighting graphics sharpen the vehicle’s expression, while bold MAZDA lettering at the rear replaces traditional badging, giving the tail a more contemporary identity. These changes are subtle in isolation, but together they give the CX-5 a more grounded and assured presence without disrupting its familiar proportions.
Mazda frames the design under the concept of “Wearable Gear.” Like well-designed clothing, the CX-5 is intended to feel equally appropriate in urban settings, family routines, and outdoor use. This adaptability was taken into consideration when creating the color navy blue.
Calm and space lead the interior
The Japanese concept of Ma, which emphasizes space, balance, and clarity, is reflected inside the 2026 Mazda CX-5. Longer trips as well as daily family use are supported by the cabin's open, uncluttered design.
Rather than adding visual complexity, Mazda has focused on refinement, coherence, and a sense of calm.
The result is an interior that aligns closely with the CX-5’s exterior philosophy. It is familiar, but more resolved, reinforcing the model’s reputation for being easy to live with across a wide range of lifestyles.
