Style and Design LR versions both use a 160kW rear wheel drive electric powertrain.
Design LR combines a 67.1kWh LFP battery with up to 482km of WLTP range.
Australian drive away pricing starts at $35,990, with arrivals from late August.
The 2026 Leapmotor B05 EV is heading to Australian dealerships from late August, bringing a rear wheel drive electric hatchback into the market at a drive away price below $40,000. Style starts at $35,990, while the longer range Design LR costs $39,990.
Both versions produce 160kW, but battery capacity, driving range and equipment separate the two.
Coupe Inspired Shape Keeps A Low Profile
At 4,430mm long and 1,880mm wide, with a 2,735mm wheelbase, the B05 has a relatively compact footprint but uses a low-slung, wide stance. Frameless doors and flush handles clean up the side profile.
At the front are blade-style LED headlights, while the rear uses a full-width Wing Star LED light. Aerodynamic measures include an active grille shutter and airflow optimisation around the body.
The B05 rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. Lightning Yellow is standard, joined by optional Galaxy Silver, Windy Grey, Metallic Black and Starry Night Blue.
Digital Cabin Brings 25 Storage Areas
A 14.6-inch floating touchscreen dominates the dashboard, paired with an 8.8-inch driver display. LEAP OS 4.0 Plus runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip and supports split-screen functionality, navigation, voice control and over-the-air updates.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. There is also a 50W air-cooled wireless phone charger.
The cabin provides 25 storage compartments, while folding the rear seats expands cargo capacity to 1,205 litres. Design LR adds TechnoLeather upholstery, powered and heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, panoramic glass roof and 12-speaker audio system.
Rear Motor Produces 160kW
Both versions use a rear-mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 240Nm. The Design LR can accelerate from 0–100km/h in 6.7 seconds. Launch Control is also included.
Leapmotor specifies a 50:50 weight distribution, while the chassis was co-developed with the Stellantis chassis team and tuned at the Balocco proving ground. The Australian release says the setup was also calibrated for local driving expectations.
Cell-to-Chassis construction integrates the battery into the vehicle structure.
Two Batteries Offer Up To 482km
Style receives a 56.2kWh LFP battery and up to 401km of WLTP range. Design LR increases capacity to 67.1kWh, extending the claimed WLTP figure to 482km.
Both support 11kW AC charging. Design LR accepts DC charging at up to 174kW, with a 30 to 80 percent charge quoted at approximately 18 minutes. Style takes about 16 minutes for the same percentage window, though its maximum DC rate is not stated in the supplied release.
Seven airbags and 21 driver assistance functions are standard, supported by 14 sensors and cameras. With its sub-$40,000 pricing, long-range option and rear-drive architecture, the B05 enters Australia's small electric hatchback segment with a distinctly performance-oriented layout.
