2026 Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale is built to FIA Rally2 regulations with a 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder, ~291 hp (215 kW), five-speed sequential gearbox and full rally AWD.

  • Chassis and aero work include widened arches, functional cooling ducts, adjustable rally suspension and an FIA-spec safety package for competition use.

  • The model is targeted at professional and semi-professional rally teams as part of Lancia’s wider effort to reconnect the brand with motorsport heritage and public visibility.

Lancia goes rallying again

Lancia’s name still carries weight among rally fans. The Delta Integrale set the benchmark in its era; what follows in 2026 should not be read as nostalgia alone. The Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale is a modern, competition-spec car developed to run under FIA Rally2 regulations — the class that now underpins WRC2 and a wide range of national series.

This project is clearly intended to be seen on stages, not just on press images. Lancia has engineered the car so private teams and professional entrants can register and race it under the current rules. That matters: Rally2 is where manufacturers show competence at a controlled cost and where brands gain visibility in front of dedicated audiences.

Design: familiar profile, race-ready execution

At a glance, the car still reads as an evolution of the latest Ypsilon road model. Up close, though, the changes are purpose-led. The body has been widened to accept a wider track and large rally wheels. Front and rear fascias are reworked to improve cooling and airflow; the bonnet and bumper carry larger ducts and inlets, while a roof scoop and pronounced rear wing are integrated to manage temperatures and load during long stages.

The HF identification returns in an abbreviated form on trim panels and rally livery options, a deliberate link to the brand’s competition history. Structural reinforcements and a bespoke underbody with protective plates make the car resilient for the varied demands of gravel and tarmac.

Engine, gearbox and driveline

Under the bonnet sits a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder developed for Rally2 compliance. Lancia quotes an output close to 291 hp (215 kW), which is in line with category targets. Power is routed through a five-speed sequential gearbox designed for rapid changes under stage conditions. The driveline uses a full rally all-wheel-drive layout with mechanical differentials front and rear plus a central limited-slip unit to deliver traction where and when it’s needed.

Suspension is fully adjustable and set up with separate gravel and tarmac configurations; the package includes high-travel components for loose surfaces and firm damping for paved special stages. Brakes are vented, competition-grade items intended to withstand repeated high-temperature use.

All of this is intended to deliver reliability over long events as well as lap-to-lap performance — the two are equally important in rallying.

Inside: a functional cockpit for competition

The interior strips away anything nonessential. An FIA-approved roll cage takes structural priority. The cabin is fitted with racing buckets, six-point harnesses, and a fire-suppression system. Controls are simplified and ergonomically arranged for driver and co-driver: instrument displays, lap and stage timers, and rally-specific switches are mounted for quick access.

Weight-saving measures are applied to help the power-to-weight ratio, but Lancia has retained the practical requirements of a competition car — storage for spares, mounting points for service gear, and clear access to mechanical components during stages and service intervals.

Where it fits in motorsport and the market

Rally2 is a crowded class with strong contenders from several manufacturers. The new Ypsilon enters a market that expects mechanical resilience, cost efficiency, and quick serviceability for private teams.

For Lancia, the Rally2 HF Integrale serves multiple purposes. It places the HF badge on stages once again, offers a factory-backed product that privateers can buy and race, and helps re-anchor Lancia’s public image in performance. The car is not a mass-market product; it’s a specialist item targeted at teams and customers prepared to compete at a high level.

Moreover, the car gives Lancia a platform for testing and demonstrating engineering advances that can feed back into road vehicles and limited series. The visibility associated with rallying — televised stages, specialist media coverage, fan engagement — supports the brand relaunch in ways standard marketing cannot.

Safety, homologation and support

Lancia has homologated the Ypsilon to FIA Rally2 rules, which imposes strict safety and performance criteria. The car’s safety fitment includes certified cage geometry, electrical kill switches, fire extinguishers, and homologated seating and harnesses. Lancia also plans to offer technical support packages for teams, including spare parts kits and servicing guidance, to help privateers keep cars competitive across a season.

Technical Highlights
