2026 Kia EV5 GT-Line UK Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The EV5 GT-Line combines a 313-mile WLTP range with sportier styling and larger wheels.

  • Performance remains measured, prioritising smooth delivery over outright speed.

  • Interior upgrades and standard equipment position the GT-Line as the most complete EV5 variant.

Design and Proportions of the Vehicle

The 2026 Kia EV5 GT-Line builds on the EV5’s squared, upright proportions but adds visual tension where the standard car is more restrained. The silhouette remains clean and geometric, with flat body sides and short overhangs that signal a focus on packaging efficiency rather than overt sportiness.

GT-Line detailing sharpens the edges. Gloss black trim replaces body-colour elements around the arches and sills, visually lowering the car and giving it a heavier stance on the road. Nineteen-inch GT-Line alloy wheels fill the arches more confidently than the smaller options on lesser trims, while the Gravity Grey paint shown in official material highlights the EV5’s crisp shut lines and angular surfacing. At 4,610 mm long with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, the EV5 sits neatly between compact and mid-size SUVs, and the proportions feel well judged rather than inflated.

Performance and Powertrain Overview

Mechanically, the EV5 GT-Line does not chase numbers for their own sake. A front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor produces 214 bhp and 295 Nm of torque, delivering a 0–62 mph time of 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 102 mph. These figures place the EV5 firmly in the realm of everyday usability rather than performance theatrics.

The 81.4 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery is the real story. WLTP combined range is rated at 313 miles, with city driving extending that figure significantly. In practical terms, this makes the EV5 GT-Line viable as a single-car EV for many households. Charging is handled via a 400-volt architecture, with a maximum DC rate of 127 kW enabling a 10–80 percent charge in around 30 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging at 11 kW completes a full charge in just over seven hours.

Key Features and Interior Impression

Inside, the GT-Line treatment is more than cosmetic. Two-tone artificial leather upholstery, heated front and outer rear seats, and electrically adjustable front seats shift the cabin into more premium territory. The dashboard layout is clean and logical, anchored by a 12.3-inch driver display, a matching 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a dedicated 5.3-inch climate control panel.

Kia has resisted the urge to bury basic functions in menus. Physical touchpoints remain intuitive, and storage is generous. A 566-litre boot expands to 1,650 litres with the rear seats folded, while a 44-litre front trunk handles charging cables neatly. GT-Line models also include Vehicle-to-Load capability, allowing external devices to be powered directly from the battery, a feature that reinforces the EV5’s lifestyle-oriented brief.

Market Positioning and Segment Context

Priced at £42,645 on the road in the UK, the 2026 Kia EV5 GT-Line sits at the top of the EV5 range. It is not positioned as a performance flagship, but as the most rounded expression of the model’s intent. Against rivals that lean heavily on acceleration figures or aggressive styling, the EV5 GT-Line takes a quieter approach.

Its appeal lies in balance. Long range, generous equipment, and a practical footprint are paired with just enough visual and interior distinction to justify the GT-Line badge. In a crowded electric SUV segment, the EV5 GT-Line does not attempt to dominate the conversation. It aims to fit into daily life with minimal compromise, and that may prove to be its strongest argument.
