A Decade Later, The Boyue Still Matters For Geely
Ten years is a long time in the SUV market, especially in China where product cycles move quickly and trends tend to change every few seasons. The fact that the Geely Boyue has survived that long, while accumulating more than 2.37 million sales globally, probably says more about the model’s importance than the anniversary badge itself.
The newly launched Geely Boyue 10th Anniversary Champion Edition arrives as a commemorative version of the long-running SUV, priced at 96,900 yuan with a temporary promotional price of 87,900 yuan. Buyers also receive a special anniversary package as part of the launch campaign.
Visually, Geely has avoided dramatically reshaping the Boyue for the occasion. The SUV largely retains the same overall design as the current model, which means the familiar shield-shaped grille and vertical chrome detailing remain front and center.
That is probably the right decision. The Boyue has become recognizable over the years, and this edition seems more interested in celebrating that identity rather than replacing it.
New Details Add A More Distinctive Look
The most noticeable exterior addition is the new “Time Blue” paint finish. In official images, the color gives the SUV a cleaner and more premium appearance than some of the brighter finishes Geely has used previously.
There are also subtle anniversary touches throughout the exterior, including commemorative badging tied specifically to the 10-year milestone.
Dimensionally, the SUV measures 4,549 mm long, 1,865 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,707 mm. Those figures keep the Boyue positioned firmly within the compact SUV category, though the proportions still lean slightly more traditional compared with the increasingly coupe-like crossovers entering the market.
The boomerang-shaped chrome trim around the lower front section also remains, adding a little extra visual movement to an otherwise fairly upright design.
Cabin Technology Receives More Attention
Inside, the updates become more technology-focused.
The cabin retains its large 14.6-inch horizontal infotainment display, now running the latest version of the Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit system. Geely also adds its newer GEEA 3.0 electronic and electrical architecture powered by AI-based functions.
The company says the SUV supports L2-level assisted driving and includes 11 active safety features.
There is also a commemorative emblem inside the cabin to reinforce the anniversary theme, though Geely otherwise keeps the interior relatively familiar.
Turbocharged Powertrain Remains Unchanged
Mechanically, the Boyue 10th Anniversary Champion Edition continues using a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 133 kW and 290 Nm of torque. Power is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Geely claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds.
That setup may not sound particularly groundbreaking in 2027, especially with electrified SUVs rapidly becoming more common, but the Boyue’s role has always centered more around accessibility and broad market appeal than outright innovation.
And judging by the sales numbers, that approach has worked fairly well so far.
