2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa Assetto Fiorano

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Record performance: 1050 cv combined output from a new 830 cv V8 and three electric motors, achieving 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds.

  • Aerodynamic innovation: Twin-tail design, active spoiler, and redesigned underbody deliver 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h.

  • Heritage revived: Testarossa name returns, linking Ferrari’s 1950s race cars and the iconic 1984 road-going Testarossa.

Revealed in Milan in September 2025, the 849 Testarossa takes its place at the top of Maranello’s range, succeeding the SF90 Stradale. It is conceived for Ferrari’s most demanding clients: those who want maximum performance combined with usability and refinement. Its name recalls a 70-year heritage, from the 500 TR of 1956 to the 1984 Testarossa that became one of Ferrari’s most celebrated road cars

Powertrain and Hybrid Architecture

At the core of the 849 Testarossa is Ferrari’s twin-turbo 3,990 cc V8, internally coded F154FC, producing 830 cv at 7,500 rpm and 842 Nm at 6,500 rpm. A larger turbocharger, redesigned cylinder heads, titanium fasteners, and lightweight camshafts contribute to the 50 cv gain over its predecessor. Specific output reaches 208 cv per litre

The hybrid system adds 220 cv through three electric motors: two on the front axle (for torque vectoring and on-demand AWD) and one on the rear axle, derived from Ferrari’s Formula 1 technology. Energy comes from a 7.45 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing up to 25 km in eDrive mode.

Selectable modes via the eManettino — eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify — allow the driver to balance efficiency and outright power. In Qualify mode, the full 1050 cv is deployed without interruption.

Performance

The result is Ferrari’s most powerful production berlinetta to date. The 849 Testarossa accelerates from 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.35 seconds, and achieves a top speed of over 330 km/h. Braking performance is equally strong, with stopping distances of 28.5 m from 100–0 km/h and 108 m from 200–0 km/h. At Fiorano, it laps in 1’17”500, faster than any previous V8 model

Ferrari engineers have tuned the V8 for a sharper, fuller sound signature. The Inconel exhaust system uses enlarged ducts and a flexible joint to manage high temperatures while reducing weight. Exhaust harmonics have been calibrated for richness in the mid-range and urgency near the 8,300 rpm redline. A new shift strategy, inspired by the SF90 XX Stradale, introduces a racing-style crack on upshifts under load

Aerodynamics and Thermal Systems

Aerodynamics play a central role in the 849 Testarossa’s design. Total downforce reaches 415 kg at 250 km/h, 25 kg more than the SF90 Stradale. Cooling efficiency is also improved by 15%.

Vehicle Dynamics

Dynamic control is handled by Ferrari’s new ABS Evo and FIVE (Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator), a digital twin that models the car’s behavior in real time. FIVE improves accuracy in speed and yaw estimates, feeding data into traction, braking, and torque vectoring systems.

Suspension geometry has been revised with lighter springs (35% weight reduction) and optimized damping, reducing roll by 10% and improving lateral grip by 3%. Despite hybrid complexity, extensive weight savings maintain a dry weight of 1,570 kg, giving the car a 1.5 kg/cv power-to-weight ratio, the best ever for a Ferrari range model

Design and Styling

Designed by Ferrari’s Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni, the 849 Testarossa carries sharp, geometric forms inspired by 1970s sports prototypes.

Exterior Highlights

  • Front fascia with a bridge-like element linking the headlights, recalling Ferrari’s 12Cilindri.

  • Deeply sculpted doors modeled as aerodynamic ducts.

  • Twin-tail rear architecture combined with a wide diffuser and round tailpipes.

  • Forged wheels with diamond-cut aerodynamic profiles, customizable finishes, and functional airflow management

Interior Highlights

The cockpit balances berlinetta tradition with single-seater influence. A horizontal dash integrates C-shaped vents, a passenger display, and an F80-inspired gear gate. Two seating options are offered: comfort seats with sculpted padding, or carbon-fibre racing seats with enhanced lateral support.

The steering wheel integrates mechanical buttons, including the Engine Start, with digital hybrid controls. Connectivity includes Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto®, wireless charging, and MyFerrari Connect for remote monitoring

Assetto Fiorano

For track-focused buyers, Ferrari offers the Assetto Fiorano package. This reduces weight by around 30 kg with carbon-fibre and titanium components, including tubular lightweight seats and 20-inch carbon wheels.

Aerodynamic changes include larger front flicks, extra vortex generators, and twin wings replacing the twin tails. These deliver triple the downforce of the standard setup. The package also adds stiffer Multimatic dampers and optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tyres

Personalization

Ferrari offers two new exterior finishes: Rosso Fiammante, a metallic evolution of Rosso Corsa, and Giallo Ambra, an amber-inspired shade. Inside, a new Giallo Siena Alcantara® trim is available, designed to complement the yellow exterior option.

As always, a wide range of customizations — including wheel finishes and interior detailing — allow each 849 Testarossa to be tailored to client preference.
