2026 Citroen C5 Aircross BEV
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 11, 2026
Two electric versions offer 210 hp with a 73 kWh battery or 230 hp with a 97 kWh battery.
The Long Range version reaches up to 680 km WLTP, while the 73 kWh model offers 520 km.
The second generation C5 Aircross measures 4,652 mm long and retains 565 dm³ of boot space regardless of powertrain.
The 2026 Citroen C5 Aircross BEV, officially named ë C5 Aircross, gives Citroen a fully electric entry in Europe's busy C SUV class. It is built on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform, which also allows the same model family to accommodate hybrid and plug in hybrid powertrains without sacrificing passenger space.
Enclosed Front Helps Stretch Electric Range
The second generation C5 Aircross moves away from the softer curves of its predecessor. Its body is more taut, with wider tracks and pronounced shoulders, while the front uses Citroen's slender three point lighting signature and available Matrix LED headlights.
The BEV receives one important distinction: its front section is completely enclosed to reduce aerodynamic drag.
At the rear, Citroen's Light Wings extend outward from the bodywork and double as aerodynamic elements. A vertical tailgate helps preserve luggage room, while the roofline slopes slightly after the second row. Citroen quotes an SCx of 0.75, down from 0.84 previously, with the aerodynamic improvements contributing more than 30 km of additional motorway range.
The SUV measures 4,652 mm long and 1,902 mm wide, with a 2,784 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance remains 200 mm despite the relatively low 1.66 metre overall height. Wheels measure up to 20 inches.
Waterfall Screen Changes the Dashboard
Inside, the C Zen Lounge cabin uses a horizontal dashboard covered partly in foam fabric, extending the same material treatment into the doors. Ambient lighting offers eight colours, while Advanced Comfort front seats can include heating, ventilation, massage and electrically adjustable side bolsters.
The vertically oriented Waterfall touchscreen dominates the centre of the dashboard. Citroen describes it as the largest central HD touchscreen yet offered by Stellantis. A 10 inch digital instrument cluster is standard, with an extended head up display available depending on trim.
Two Batteries Cover Different EV Needs
The entry electric version combines a 157 kW, or 210 hp, motor with a 73 kWh battery for up to 520 km WLTP. Above it, a 170 kW, or 230 hp, motor and 97 kWh battery extend that figure to 680 km. Both WLTP figures were subject to homologation in Citroen's release.
Three regenerative braking levels are selectable using steering wheel paddles. An available heat pump can add 25 km of range in sub zero temperatures compared with conventional cabin heating, according to Citroen.
DC charging at up to 160 kW takes the 73 kWh battery from 20 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. The 97 kWh version takes 27 minutes. An 11 kW three phase onboard charger is standard, while V2L capability is planned from 2026.
Electric Version Keeps the Full Boot
Rear knee room grows by 51 mm and second row headroom by 68 mm over the previous C5 Aircross. Boot volume is unchanged by the electric hardware, offering 565 dm³ with the seats raised and 1,668 dm³ with them folded.
Developed and engineered in France, the C5 Aircross is assembled at Rennes. Its 73 or 97 kWh battery pack is also assembled there, while the electric motor is produced in Trémery.
