2026 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Convertible European Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The E Ray Convertible combines a 6.2 litre LT2 V8 and front electric motor for 644 hp and electric all wheel drive.

  • Its fully retractable hardtop distinguishes the Convertible from the Coupé's removable roof panel.

  • European specification includes carbon ceramic brakes, Magnetic Selective Ride Control and a three screen cockpit.

The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette E Ray Convertible European Version adds open roof driving to Chevrolet's electrified C8 formula without changing the basic powertrain concept. A naturally aspirated V8 drives the rear wheels while a separate electric motor powers the front axle, creating electric all wheel drive.

The numbers remain serious: 644 hp combined and 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Yet the Convertible's defining feature is simpler. Its hardtop retracts electrically, giving the E Ray a different character from the Coupé without moving away from its mid engined layout.

Mid Engine Shape Meets a Retractable Hardtop

The E Ray retains the eighth generation Corvette's low nose, wide body and cab forward proportions. Chevrolet uses additional cooling openings and carefully positioned lightweight materials around the car, with aerodynamic performance influencing the exterior treatment.

At 4,731 to 4,734 mm long and 2,024 mm wide, the Corvette has considerable road presence. Wheelbase measures 2,722 mm, while the Convertible stands 1,236 mm high. Its running order mass is listed between 1,944 and 1,954 kg.

Staggered Wheels Hide Carbon Ceramic Brakes

Twenty inch front wheels are paired with 21 inch rears, wearing 275/30ZR20 and 345/25ZR21 tires respectively. Behind them sit standard carbon ceramic brakes with six piston Brembo front and four piston rear calipers.

Magnetic Selective Ride Control 4.0 works with double wishbone suspension at both ends. Carbon fibre wheels are also listed, reducing vehicle weight by 18.5 kg and cutting unsprung rotating mass.

Three Screens Sit Beneath the Open Roof

The European 3LZ Convertible gets heated and ventilated GT2 seats with nappa leather and carbon fibre trim. A 14 inch Driver Information Center sits alongside a 12.7 inch centre display and 6.6 inch auxiliary touchscreen.

There is also a head up display, Performance Data Recorder, wireless phone charging and a 14 speaker Bose Performance Series audio system. Carbon fibre is used for the steering wheel covering and shift paddles.

V8 and Front Motor Deliver 644 HP

The 6.2 litre LT2 V8 produces 482 hp, with an eight speed dual clutch transmission sending its output rearward. The front permanent magnet motor contributes 161 hp and 195 Nm. Combined output reaches 644 hp.

A 1.9 kWh lithium ion battery supplies the front drive unit and replenishes energy while driving, partly through regenerative braking. Stealth Mode allows electric only operation at speeds up to 72 km/h.

Top speed is quoted at 296 km/h. For Europe, Chevrolet also lists combined WLTP fuel consumption of 12.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 289 g/km, while warning that final equipment can vary between European markets.
