2026 Brabus 800 Cabrio

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Limited to 50 units with a fully engineered open-top body and reinforced structure.

  • 800 hp twin-turbo V8 delivers 0–100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.

  • Features BRABUS WIDESTAR widebody, exposed carbon elements, and Masterpiece interiors.

Brabus has taken the familiar silhouette of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 and pushed it into rare territory: a fully engineered cabriolet, built in a limited run of just 50 units. The 2026 Brabus 800 Cabrio arrives as a Masterpiece-level special, shaped by more than 500 newly developed components and a structural redesign intended to match the rigidity of the standard G-Class.

A Newly Engineered Open-Top Body

The transformation from hard-top to cabrio is far more than a styling exercise. Brabus replaced much of the original upper structure with high-strength steel and added a carbon-fiber front roof bow—a world first for a vehicle of this type—to retain roof contour stability at speed. Testing included shaker loads up to 7g and the mandatory rollover certification, underscoring the engineering emphasis behind the conversion.

The soft top itself is a two-part, electrically operated assembly that opens or closes in 20 seconds via an overhead switch. A heated safety-glass rear window and tailor-made seals ensure weatherproofing, while the exposed-structure “C-BOW” roll bar at the rear becomes a signature visual cue.

Design Identity: Carbon, Width and Presence

Visually, the 800 Cabrio follows the WIDESTAR formula: extended fenders, carbon-fiber surfaces, and large intakes defining the front fascia. Exposed carbon covers the grille surround, hood power bulge, fenders, and mirror caps. LED entry lighting is integrated into the fenders, and the custom tailgate includes a recessed BRABUS logo panel.

Wheels are BRABUS “PLATINUM EDITION” Monoblock forged rims—24 inches for the street-oriented 800 Cabrio, paired with Hankook Ventus S1 evo ZX tires measuring up to 345/25 R24 at the rear. Ride height can be lowered between 20 and 40 mm using height-adjustable sports springs.

Performance: The 800-Horsepower Centerpiece

Power comes from the BRABUS-tuned four-liter V8 twin-turbo engine producing 588 kW (800 hp) and 1,000 Nm of torque. Paired with a nine-speed SPEEDSHIFT TCT transmission and all-wheel drive, the 800 Cabrio reaches 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h.

A stainless steel exhaust with active valves offers two distinct sound profiles: a subdued tone for urban use and a full V8 note in Sport mode. Side-exit pipes, framed in carbon with illuminated accents, give the SUV a motorsport-inspired presence.

Interior: The Masterpiece Treatment

Inside, the 800 Cabrio adopts the brand’s Masterpiece philosophy. The featured example combines Oxford Sand and Cairos Brown leather with Shell-design quilting across the doors, floor, and seat centers. Neck-level heating is integrated into the head restraints to make open-air driving viable in cold weather. Carbon trims, illuminated scuff plates, and anodized door-lock pins complete the cabin’s bespoke execution.

Positioning: An Ultra-Exclusive Statement

With just 50 units planned, the Brabus 800 Cabrio is positioned less as a traditional SUV and more as a collector-grade super-convertible. Its blend of engineering depth, extreme performance, and handcrafted detailing places it in a category with virtually no direct rivals.
