Road Legal Aero Developed for Track Days
BMW M is extending the capability of the G87-generation M2 with the introduction of the 2026 BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit G87, available from July 2026. Designed specifically for track day use, the kit remains compliant with German road regulations when configured in its street setting.
The package includes a manually adjustable front splitter integrated with a front diffuser, alongside fixed wheel arch diffusers and a scoop beneath the engine oil cooler. Together, these elements significantly increase downforce at the front axle.
At the rear, a swan neck wing—derived from the BMW M4 GT4 and M4 GT3 customer racing cars—dominates the silhouette. In “Race Mode,” the wing shifts 50 millimetres rearward to increase aerodynamic effectiveness. When retracted in “Street Mode,” it complies with regulatory dimensional limits. Two angle-of-attack settings allow drivers to tune rear downforce to suit track characteristics. An integrated brake light completes the motorsport reference.
Visually, the added hardware sharpens the M2’s already compact, muscular stance. The short wheelbase and pronounced fenders remain intact, but the aero surfaces introduce a more deliberate, circuit-focused intent.
Adjustable Chassis and Motorsport Dampers
Beyond aerodynamics, the 2026 BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit G87 includes a threaded chassis with 4-way adjustable rebound and compression damping. Adjustable support bearings and a special motorsport damper system—road-legal for the first time in this form—are also part of the package.
Ride height can be lowered by up to 20 millimetres at both front and rear, with infinitely variable adjustment. Development and fine-tuning were overseen by BMW M test engineer Jörg Weidinger, drawing on experience from competition programmes. All aerodynamic components were optimised in the BMW wind tunnel.
The Track Kit is priced at 23,500 euros plus tax in Germany, excluding installation.
M Performance Exhaust for the M2 CS
Alongside the Track Kit, BMW M introduces a new M Performance exhaust system for the BMW M2 CS. The system enhances the acoustic character of the 390 kW (530 hp) inline six-cylinder engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology.
Optimised exhaust gas routing delivers a sharper engine note across selectable modes. Visually, carbon and titanium tailpipe trims underscore the motorsport lineage. The system is approximately 8 kilograms lighter than the standard component and is priced from 8,343.50 euros plus tax, excluding installation.
Positioning Within the Compact Performance Segment
In a segment defined by compact dimensions and escalating power outputs, the 2026 BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit G87 refines rather than reinvents the formula. It provides owners with factory-engineered track capability while preserving road legality.
For drivers who frequent circuit events yet require everyday usability, the approach is precise. Adjustable aero. Motorsport-grade suspension. Weight-saving exhaust hardware.
BMW M has not altered the M2’s core identity. It has simply sharpened the edges.
