2026 BMW M2 CS G87 UK Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • 3.0-litre inline-six now delivers 530 hp and 650 Nm.

  • 0–62 mph in 3.8 seconds, top speed 188 mph with M Driver’s Package.

  • Around 30 kg lighter thanks to extensive CFRP components.

More Power From the Twin Turbo Straight Six

The 2026 BMW M2 CS G87 UK Version arrives as the latest special-edition model from BMW M GmbH, and it wastes little time establishing its intent. Power from the upgraded 3.0-litre, six-cylinder in-line petrol engine rises to 530 hp, a 50 hp increase over the current-generation M2, with peak torque climbing to 650 Nm.

Torque is available across a broad band from 2,650 rpm to 5,730 rpm, while maximum output is reached at 6,250 rpm before the engine runs on to a 7,200 rpm red line.

The M TwinPower Turbo system incorporates mono-scroll turbochargers, High Precision Injection operating at up to 350 bar, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-VANOS camshaft control.

On paper, the numbers place it alongside larger M models. In practice, they give the compact G87 platform a sharpened, more urgent character.

Eight Speed Transmission and Acceleration Figures

Power is channelled through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, offering three distinct shift programmes via a selector-mounted button.

Steering wheel-mounted paddles allow manual intervention at any time.

With RACE START engaged, the M2 CS accelerates from 0–62 mph in 3.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the standard M2. The sprint from 0–124 mph takes 11.7 seconds, while 50–75 mph is dispatched in 3.4 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 188 mph when specified with the M Driver’s Package, fitted as standard in the UK.

Combined fuel consumption is quoted at 28.8 mpg WLTP, with CO₂ emissions of 226 g/km.

Intelligent Lightweight Construction

The defining theme of the CS remains weight reduction. The 2026 BMW M2 CS G87 UK Version is approximately 30 kilograms lighter than the standard model.

This saving comes through extensive use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) for exterior and interior components.

Visually, that lightweight focus is evident. A large ducktail spoiler is seamlessly integrated into the CFRP boot lid. The rear diffuser, front splitter and roof are also constructed from carbon fibre, while forged M light-alloy wheels finished in matte Gold Bronze measure 19 inches at the front and 20 at the rear.

The ride height sits eight millimetres lower, and model-specific tuning has been applied to springs, dampers, steering and braking systems to suit the car’s altered weight distribution.

Focused Cockpit and Digital Interface

Inside, carbon continues. The centre console is constructed entirely from CFRP, while heated, weight-optimised bucket seats feature integrated head restraints and illuminated “CS” badges.

The BMW Curved Display pairs a 12.3-inch information display with a 14.9-inch control display running BMW Operating System 8.5 with an M-specific interface.

Standard equipment includes three-zone automatic climate control, Harman Kardon surround sound and BMW Live Cockpit Professional.

Position in the Compact Performance Segment

Priced from £86,800 RRP and produced in a limited run at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico, with UK deliveries beginning in late summer 2025, the 2026 BMW M2 CS G87 UK Version occupies a narrow but defined space.

It is lighter, more powerful and more focused than the standard M2, yet retains daily usability and full digital integration. In a segment increasingly shaped by electrification, the M2 CS doubles down on high-revving combustion performance, sharpened chassis tuning and material precision. It does not attempt reinvention. It intensifies the formula.
