Suzuki picked the Salone Auto Torino, right in the heart of Piazza Castello, to roll the cover off its first fully electric SUV. The car is called the e-VITARA ICHI Edition — “ICHI” meaning “first” in Japanese — a clear nod to its role in starting Suzuki’s EV chapter.

The Vitara name has long stood for compact SUVs with a rugged streak, and the ICHI builds on that history while moving the brand firmly into zero-emission territory. Unlike some launches where the tech overshadows the brand’s DNA, Suzuki’s emphasis here feels balanced: it’s still very much a Vitara, just powered differently.

Dual-motor setup with real AWD credentials

The engineering headline is the dual-motor BEV system, marketed as ALLGRIP-e. One motor drives the front axle (174 hp), the other powers the rear (65 hp), giving a combined output of 184 hp. It’s a rare offering in this class, as many compact EV SUVs settle for front-drive layouts.

Pre-heating for the steering wheel and seats can also be triggered via smartphone.

Navigation has gone hybrid too, blending live weather, charging station availability, and parking data into its route planning. There’s even the option to personalize the infotainment display with custom wallpapers, a small but thoughtful nod to the digital habits of modern drivers.

Suzuki keeps the e-Vitara ICHI Edition simple: it comes in a single specification, with a two-tone finish pairing a black roof to five available body colors. The dual-tone scheme, once optional, is now standard here, emphasizing its special-edition status.
