2025 Mazda 6e for Australian Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • By the middle of 2026, the Mazda 6e will be the company's first entirely electric vehicle in Australia.

  • Powered by a 190kW rear-mounted motor with over 500km of range.

  • Showcases Mazda’s evolved Kodo design and new-generation cabin technology.

The First Step Into Mazda’s Electric Future

Mazda Australia has confirmed the 2025 Mazda 6e for Australian Version, a fully electric model scheduled for local arrival in mid-2026. It’s a pivotal introduction — the culmination of two decades of joint development between Mazda and Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd.

The 6e brings the brand's core values, which have been honed under its "Jinba Ittai" philosophy, into a time of intelligent electrification and precise minimalism. The vehicle is a "watershed moment" for the brand, preserving Mazda's driver-focused DNA while embracing the benefits of electric power, according to Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director of Mazda Australia.

Evolved Kodo Design With Functional Elegance

Visually, the 6e advances Mazda’s “Kodo: Soul of Motion” language with a new level of fluidity and restraint. The bodywork flows with long, unbroken surfaces that emphasize tension and stance. A low roofline and short-deck coupé profile give the car a compact athletic balance — a fresh direction for a brand traditionally associated with sedans and wagons.

Electric Powertrain and Range Confidence

Confirmed preliminary specifications place the 6e as a rear-wheel-drive battery-electric vehicle (BEV), powered by a 190kW single rear motor. Energy comes from a 78kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, known for its stability and long service life. Mazda claims a driving range exceeding 500km, supported by fast charging capability that restores 30 to 80 percent in around 15 minutes.

While official pricing and final output figures will be disclosed closer to launch, the mechanical layout signals Mazda’s intent to preserve its hallmark dynamic balance even within the EV format.
