Exterior Design Focused on Simplicity and Proportion

Mazda sticks with its “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design language. The 6e Takumi gets frameless doors, a clean side profile, and minimal body sculpting. Dimensions come in at 4,921 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,491 mm tall—near identical to a traditional D-segment sedan.

There’s a subtle fastback shape to it. A full-width rear light bar. The front grille doesn’t disappear entirely—it’s still there, outlined by LED lighting that glows while charging. One detail that stands out: a motorized rear spoiler that deploys at speed.

Two Battery Options, Similar Acceleration, Different Range

The Takumi trim uses a 68.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Power goes to a 190 kW rear motor—258 PS and 320 Nm of torque. It reaches 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. WLTP range: 479 km.

The Takumi Plus version switches to an 80 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery and slightly detuned motor—180 kW (245 PS), but same torque. Range increases to 552 km WLTP. Acceleration drops just a touch to 7.8 seconds.

Both top out at 175 km/h.

Charging Times Are Respectable, Not Record-Breaking

Mazda’s approach to charging depends on the battery chemistry.

• The 68.8 kWh LFP version can charge at up to 165–200 kW DC. It gets from 10–80 % in about 22–24 minutes.

• The 80 kWh NMC version charges slower: 45–47 minutes to hit 80 % at a lower 90 kW max.

AC charging for both uses an 11 kW three-phase system. Expect a full charge in 7.5 to 8.5 hours overnight.

Clean Interior with High-Spec Details

The Takumi cabin sticks to synthetic leather. Beige or black, your choice. A panoramic roof is standard. In Takumi Plus, it steps up to tan Nappa leather, suede accents, and added detailing.

Mazda’s UX is screen-heavy but restrained. A 14.6-inch central display is paired with a 10.2-inch digital cluster and an augmented reality head-up display. That AR-HUD is large—projected at the virtual equivalent of a 50-inch TV.

Audio comes from a Sony 14-speaker system. Other key features: wireless phone charging, gesture and voice controls, ambient lighting, and a 360° camera.

Useful Cargo Space, Front and Rear

Trunk space is 330 litres. There’s a small front trunk too—70 litres of extra storage. It won’t hold much, but it adds utility.

Safety Systems Cover the Essentials and a Bit More

There are nine airbags. Adaptive cruise, emergency braking, lane keep, blind spot, the usual.

Mazda also includes an Occupancy Monitoring System—if it detects a child or pet left behind, it alerts the driver before locking or walking away.

Other features include a “Rest Mode” and “Relax Mode” for when the car is idle. These Smart Modes adjust lighting, climate, and seating for brief waits, quiet time, or leaving the car.

Trim Differences: Takumi vs Takumi Plus

• Takumi comes with artificial leather, Sony audio, glass roof, and full tech suite.

• Takumi Plus upgrades to real leather, acoustic glass, rear sunshades, and a few aesthetic extras.

Mechanically, only the battery and motor output differ between trims.

Positioning the 6e in Mazda’s Lineup

This isn’t a replacement for the current CX-series crossovers. And it’s not a performance EV either. The 6e Takumi marks Mazda’s first full-electric sedan for Europe, aligned more with a quiet premium sedan experience than anything sporty.

Pricing starts at €45,000, with the Takumi Plus Long Range costing around €47,000.

Deliveries began in summer 2025 in continental Europe. UK market follows in early 2026.
