2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • With the same 280 PS turbo engine as the Veloce, the 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint adds a new entry-level trim to the Giulia lineup.

  • Intends to increase Alfa's appeal by lowering prices and making minor design changes.

  • Launch set for July 24, with debut fairs held across Japan on August 2–3.

It’s been a while since Alfa Romeo introduced a new trim to the Giulia range, but the 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint brings the right kind of update—measured, accessible, and unmistakably Italian. Announced by Stellantis Japan, the Sprint joins the lineup beneath the Veloce, offering the same hardware but dressed with a simpler, purer look

The Familiar Shape, Refined Once More

The Giulia remains one of the best-looking sedans on sale today. The proportions still work beautifully: long bonnet, rear-drive stance, and that subtle taper through the cabin that makes even its competitors—BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, and Jaguar XE—feel overdesigned.

The Sprint doesn’t try to reinvent anything. It wears 18-inch dark turbine wheels, the same crisp body lines, and Alfa’s signature trilobe grille now finished with darker trim. It looks more restrained but no less confident. Available in four classic colors—Alfa Red, Alfa White, Vesuvio Gray, and Vulcano Black—it sticks to heritage tones that suit the car’s athletic form.

Inside, the cabin trades the Veloce’s sportier leather for natural hide and dark aluminum accents. There’s a new high-grade eight-speaker audio setup, still paired with the 8.8-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Nothing flashy, but tactile where it counts.

The Same Power, Just Less Show

Under the bonnet, nothing changes—and that’s a good thing. The Sprint carries over the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, built entirely from aluminum, delivering 280 PS and 400 Nm of torque through an eight-speed automatic to the rear wheels. It’s the same setup as the Veloce, which means it still dances through corners with that rear-drive precision few sedans in this price bracket can match

The chassis remains Alfa’s signature mix of agility and comfort. The carbon-fiber driveshaft is retained, as is the Alfa™ Link suspension—double wishbones up front, multi-link at the rear. The result is a car that feels alive at city speeds but balanced and fluid on mountain roads.

Positioning and Purpose

Priced at ¥6,650,000 (approx. $41,000 USD), the Sprint brings Alfa Romeo ownership within reach of a wider audience while keeping its core mechanical integrity intact. The intent isn’t to cheapen the Giulia but to make it more attainable. With the rise of electrified sedans like BMW’s i4 and Polestar 2, Alfa’s decision to double down on a purely combustion sports saloon feels deliberate—almost nostalgic.

Stellantis Japan plans a debut fair on August 2–3, where visitors who book a test drive will receive a limited-edition Alfa-branded stainless bottle—a small but charming gesture in typical Italian fashion

A Classic Formula, Intact

In an era tilting toward EVs and software updates, the 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint stays refreshingly analog. Same powertrain, same balance, same heartbeat—just wrapped in a slightly simpler suit. It’s Alfa’s quiet reminder that emotion still matters more than electrification schedules.
