Tesla’s Record $1 Trillion Musk Package Has Little to Do With Selling Cars

Tesla’s Record $1 Trillion Musk Package Has Little to Do With Selling Cars
  • Tesla's $1 trillion Musk offer is based on AI, robotics, and autonomy, not merely EV sales.

  • The milestones are 1M robots, 1M robotaxis, and 10M FSD subscribers.

  • Musk's vision has the potential to change Tesla's brand from carmaker to global tech leader.

The Biggest Payday in Corporate History

Tesla’s board has proposed a decade-long, stock-based package that could net Musk up to $1 trillion, the largest corporate compensation deal ever. But this isn’t tied to simply ramping up EV production. Instead, it’s built on some of Musk’s most ambitious bets yet—targets that look more like Silicon Valley moonshots than car-industry milestones.

Chasing an $8.5 Trillion Valuation

At the core of the package are market cap targets. Tesla needs to rise from today's valuation to a whopping $8.5 trillion to access the last tranche. That would place Tesla above Apple, Microsoft, and Saudi Aramco combined—a brazen goal that indicates where the board believes the company's future is.

From Humanoids to Robotaxis

The business objectives speak for themselves: 1 million Optimus robots, 1 million robotaxis, and 10 million paying Full Self-Driving subscribers. Musk has gone so far as to say that Optimus alone could one day contribute to 80% of Tesla's worth, eclipsing its EV sales. Robotaxi plans are already in the works with a test pilot in Austin, but glitches and regulatory criticism attest to how much work remains to be done.

Betting Tesla's Future on AI

This package clears something up: Tesla doesn't view its fate in EV sales only. The actual play is robotics, AI, and automation—a shift that can make Musk the first trillionaire in the world if the ambitious goals materialize. For investors, it's either the boldest long-term vision in business history or a trillion-dollar bet with odds heavily loaded against.
