For Sale: The Final Bertone—Nuccio One-Off with Ferrari Scuderia Power
  • The Bertone Nuccio is the final original concept car created by the legendary Italian design house before its closure.

  • It is built on a Ferrari F430 Scuderia platform, featuring a 4.3-liter V8 and F1-style gearbox for genuine high-performance capability.

  • Designed under Michael Robinson, the Nuccio blends radical wedge-era styling with fully functional engineering and is now offered via sealed-bid auction.

Auction Opens for Bertone’s Final Original

The Bertone Nuccio is now available for acquisition through sealed-bid auction. Originally revealed in 2012 to mark Bertone’s 100th anniversary, the Nuccio is the final fully original concept developed before the legendary Italian design house ceased operations. Named after Nuccio Bertone and constructed as a complete, working vehicle, this one-off design embodies the final creative direction of a company that helped define postwar automotive styling.

Built on a Ferrari Scuderia Platform

Far from being a show-only concept, the Nuccio rides on the underpinnings of a Ferrari F430 Scuderia. This includes the 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 rated at 510 hp and paired with Ferrari’s six-speed F1 automated gearbox. The use of the Scuderia variant—Ferrari’s track-focused evolution of the F430—means the Nuccio delivers true supercar dynamics in addition to its bespoke design.

Michael Robinson’s Final Vision for Bertone

The Nuccio was penned under the direction of Michael Robinson, who served as Bertone’s Design Director during the project. Robinson led the team in shaping a future-facing concept that paid homage to Bertone’s radical past—drawing particularly from the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero. The Nuccio’s sharply angled profile, glass canopy, and crocodile-arched roofline were all deliberate callbacks to an era when Bertone pushed boundaries without compromise.

Fully Operational and Road-Capable

Unlike many modern concept cars that remain static, the Nuccio was engineered into a fully functional vehicle shortly after its debut. Interior instrumentation, powertrain integration, and complete systems were fitted to transform the show model into a roadworthy, operable car. The result is a one-off supercar with both show presence and performance pedigree.

Private Auction Format and Viewing

The car is being offered in a sealed-bid auction, with private viewings arranged in St. Moritz. The bidding window opens in late June and closes in early July. Its single-unit production, Scuderia underpinnings, and position as Bertone’s last independent concept make it a rare and historically significant offering.

A Closing Statement from a Design Icon

The Nuccio closes the book on one of Italy’s most influential design houses. It is not a tribute built in hindsight but a final project conceived and executed while Bertone was still active. With direct lineage to Scuderia-level engineering and the signature of a leading Italian-American designer, the Nuccio is more than a collector car—it’s a cultural artifact with real mechanical presence.

Bertone’s Name Lives On

While the Nuccio represents the final design conceived by the original Bertone studio, the brand itself has since been revived under new ownership. Today’s Bertone is developing limited-production vehicles that echo the company’s performance-driven heritage, including the 2024 Bertone GB110—a hypercar built to celebrate 110 years of the name—and the upcoming 2026 Bertone Runabout Barchetta, a lightweight open-top model inspired by classic Italian speedboats. While these projects are forward-looking, the Nuccio remains a rare physical link to the original design legacy that defined Bertone’s influence on global automotive design.
