A minimalist identity that stands out:
The R26, in turn, presents a more Spartan approach to aesthetics, structurally based on the use of titanium, carbon black, and a newly defined Audi red accent. The surfaces are sharp and orderly, with Audi having cleaned up and disciplined the design language. Major, uninterrupted panels and lines in structured geometric forms provide the basis for a skin that is instantly recognizable and hard to confuse with anything else on the grid.
The Audi design leadership has positioned this concept as a preview of the identity that the team will carry into competition. Reduced graphics, precise surfaces, and balanced colour treatment speak of a brand focused on clarity and consistency rather than crowding the car with noise.
The People Behind the Project
Audi is underpinning its clear visual direction with an equally clear leadership and driver structure, too. Mattia Binotto is in charge of the Formula 1 project, responsible for chassis development in Hinwil and for power-unit development in Neuburg. His appointment represents a declaration of intent: Audi wants to create a united technical structure from day one.
The driver lineup brings stability and potential into the team. Nico Hülkenberg brings veteran experience to guide development, while Gabriel Bortoleto represents the long-term future. Hülkenberg has noted the growing momentum inside the programme and the sense of purpose as preparations intensify.
The board leadership at Audi has drawn up a clear timeline, wherein the first two seasons will be more about building competitiveness and from 2030 onwards, the objective is to contend for the championship.

Focused on the 2026 Hybrid Era
The R26 reflects the proportions and requirements of the 2026 regulations, placing a greater emphasis on electrification and sustainable fuel. Audi is developing its own power unit centred on a 1.6-litre turbo hybrid architecture with significantly higher electrical output. The team sees this regulatory change as a chance to take up Formula 1 competition on roughly equal terms.
Since the project kicked off, the chassis group and power-unit division have expanded in parallel, establishing an integrated structure that Audi believes will be basic to long-term success. The R26 is the first public expression of that work.
