A Cleaner Look, Inside and Out
The design tweaks to the 2026 Toyota bZ aren’t flashy, but they do their job. The front end gets smoothed out with a slightly tighter face, and the lighting signature feels a bit more integrated. One big visual win: those chunky black wheel arches are now painted to match the body, finally giving the SUV a more polished, less piecemeal appearance.
Inside, there’s a redesigned center console—nothing radical, but more streamlined. The 14-inch touchscreen is now standard across the board, and Toyota’s added customizable ambient lighting for a bit more visual flair at night. It’s still functional and focused, which fits the vibe here.
More Power, More Miles
The headline update is under the floor. The new 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery bumps range up to a solid 314 miles on the FWD XLE Plus trim. That’s a real improvement and puts the bZ in the ballpark with offerings from Hyundai and Tesla, depending on the spec.
If you’re eyeing the AWD model, you’re also getting more grunt. The new eAxles use silicon carbide semiconductors to improve efficiency and output. Total power: 338 hp. That’s good for 0–60 mph in 4.9 seconds, which is quick by any standard, especially for a family-sized EV.
Charging Gets Easier, Finally
Toyota finally joined the party with NACS support—so yes, you’ll be able to plug into Tesla’s Supercharger network starting in 2025. That’s a major step forward for Toyota’s EV usability.
Charging from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes with DC fast charging, which is average, but the big upgrade is the addition of Plug & Charge functionality. No more tapping cards or fiddling with apps—just plug in, and it handles authentication and billing. Simple and overdue.
Stronger Footing in the EV Market
Toyota needed this update. The earlier bZ4X didn’t exactly wow critics or shoppers. But with better range, a cleaner user experience, and actual performance gains, the 2026 Toyota bZ has a clearer place in the EV conversation.
It still goes up against tough rivals—Hyundai’s Ioniq 5, Ford’s Mustang Mach-E, even VW’s ID.4—but now it feels better suited to compete. There’s still Toyota’s reputation for reliability and long-term value to back it all up.
Arrives Late 2025
Expect the 2026 Toyota bZ to hit showrooms in the second half of 2025. Pricing hasn’t been finalized, but we’ll likely see a similar range as before, with a bit of a bump to reflect the new hardware.
Overall? It’s no game-changer—but it’s finally a solid entry in a segment that’s only getting more competitive. Toyota’s moving in the right direction.
