2026 Peugeot E-208 GTi puts down 280 hp and 345 Nm in a properly hot EV hatch.
-
Lowered by 30 mm with wider front and rear tracks—it looks ready to pounce.
-
Inside, it’s Alcantara-heavy, red-accented, and unapologetically focused.
A GTi With No Tailpipe, But Plenty of Bark
The 2026 Peugeot E-208 GTi has finally landed, and no—this isn’t just another badge job. This thing looks serious. Wide stance, slashed stance, red accents in all the right places. And crucially, it doesn’t pretend to be something else. It’s a hot hatch that just happens to be electric.
At first glance, the surfacing is tighter. You can spot the wider front (+56 mm) and rear (+27 mm) tracks immediately—especially with the flared arches that don’t try to hide the extra muscle. It sits 30 mm lower, and combined with the new 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s, it’s no stretch to say this is the most aggressive 208 we’ve seen.
280 Horses. From an EV Hatchback.
That number grabs attention. 280 hp and 345 Nm—delivered through a single front-mounted electric motor. No dual-motor showboating. It does 0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, which is genuinely quick, especially for a car this compact. The top speed is capped at 180 km/h, but let’s be honest—that’s not where this car shines.
There’s a limited-slip diff integrated into the reducer. Peugeot Sport tuned the suspension with hydraulic stops. Brakes are big: 355 mm discs with four-piston calipers. And if you’re the type to switch off ESP and find the limit—well, Peugeot even gives you a looser Sport ESC mode.
It Looks the Part Inside, Too
Climb in and it’s clear they didn’t cheap out. Alcantara is everywhere. The seats are snug GTi buckets, stitched red, with the classic vertical stripe down the center. The steering wheel is tiny and wrapped in the same suede. Even the ambient lighting can be set to red. The 3D digital display adds a layer of polish—clean, focused, but not cold.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wireless. There’s also V2L capability—yes, this thing can power your espresso machine in the pits.
EVs Can Be Fun. This One Proves It
There’s something undeniably cool about Peugeot giving the GTi name to a fully electric 208. It’s not trying to copy anyone else. It doesn’t feel like a softened, compliance car. If anything, it feels like a statement: EVs can be sharp, compact, and fun without losing the plot.
The expected price is around €45,000, and it’ll hit production late 2025, with deliveries starting early 2026. That puts it nose-to-nose with the likes of the Alpine A290, Abarth 600e, and even the upcoming Mini JCW Electric. It’s getting crowded in the performance EV compact space—but Peugeot came ready.
