First Impressions: Muscular but Friendly
The 2026 Citroën C5 Aircross doesn’t try to look mean. It’s assertive, yes, but in that approachable French way. The proportions are upright and tidy—short overhangs, broad shoulders, and a roofline that dips just enough at the rear to look a bit sporty without sacrificing headroom.
That new front end brings sharper lines and slimmer headlights, tied together by Citroën’s updated badge and a grille that feels more integrated than fussy. Not trying to be aggressive. Just… smartly evolved.
Inside: Space You Can Feel, Tech You Can Use
The "C-Zen Lounge" interior is probably one of the more relaxed takes on a modern EV cabin. It’s not trying too hard with tech overload. The vertical HD screen is big—Citroën’s largest yet—but placed upright like a tablet, not slanted like a cockpit. It works. So does the floating console that frees up space underneath for bags or bottles or whatever ends up there.
Rear-seat legroom is best in class, according to Citroën, and cargo space stays strong at 651 liters, regardless of whether you choose electric, plug-in, or hybrid. The panoramic roof and big windows help the whole space feel open and less SUV-boxy than some rivals.
Powertrains: Something for Everyone
Citroën’s clearly gone for flexibility here. The 2026 C5 Aircross rides on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, which means it’s been designed from the ground up to take all kinds of drivetrains. And it does:
-
Hybrid 145: Pairs a 1.2L petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Total WLTP range: over 950 km.
-
Plug-In Hybrid: Delivers more than 100 km of electric range and a total of 650 km, thanks in part to a sizable 55L fuel tank.
-
Electric (Standard): 73 kWh battery, 210 hp motor, 520 km range.
-
Electric (Extended Range): 97 kWh battery, 230 hp motor, up to 680 km range.
Charging speed matters, too. A 160 kW fast charger gets you from 20 to 80% in under 30 minutes. There's also an optional 22 kW onboard charger arriving in 2026 for home or workplace wallboxes.
Positioned to Compete, Priced to Be Practical
When it lands in the second half of 2025, the new C5 Aircross will go up against the likes of the Peugeot E-3008, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, and Kia Sportage PHEV. But Citroën’s angle is always a bit softer—more about comfort, versatility, and design that doesn’t follow every trend.
It won’t win over the hardcore performance crowd, and that’s fine. The 2026 Citroën C5 Aircross is for the daily grind and weekend drives alike—quiet, useful, and now fully in step with the electrified future.
