2025 Volkswagen ID.5 Black Edition

By Team Dailyrevs

  • The 2025 Volkswagen ID.5 Black Edition enhances the standard Match trim with exclusive black styling and premium interior features.

  • Equipped with a 77 kWh battery and a 210 kW motor, it offers a WLTP range of up to 341 miles.

  • Priced at £47,680, it presents a value proposition with bundled features that would typically cost £4,625 if selected individually.

Darker Details, Sharper Look

Volkswagen’s gone moody with the 2025 ID.5 Black Edition—and it works. Based on the existing Match trim, this version leans into blacked-out accents and subtle design upgrades to give the ID.5 a more confident, assertive look. You’ve got gloss black mirror caps, high-gloss roof rails, black badging, and a set of 19-inch ‘Onyx’ alloys that fill the arches nicely.

It’s still familiar, still clearly an ID.5, but this one feels just a touch more serious. Less suburban runabout, more urban stealth.

Inside the Cabin: Subtle Luxe

The updates don’t stop at the door handles. Inside, the Black Edition gains VW’s Top-Sport ‘Plus’ Interior Pack. That means deep-bolstered front seats with integrated headrests, massage function, and lumbar adjustment—definitely a level up from the standard kit.

The upholstery’s a mix of ArtVelours microfleece and classic VW functionality. There’s also a panoramic glass roof to brighten things up and Moonlight Chrome trim for a dash of contrast. It’s not flashy, just well-executed.

Range and Power: Quiet Confidence

The powertrain remains unchanged from the Match trim, but that’s not a bad thing. The Black Edition comes with the familiar 77 kWh battery and 210 kW (286 PS) electric motor setup. It’s good for up to 341 miles (WLTP), depending on how heavy your right foot is and how you option the wheels.

Performance is smooth, predictable, and plenty quick for everyday driving. It’s not trying to be a performance SUV—it just handles itself well. And for most drivers, that’s exactly what you want.

Value Where It Counts

This isn’t just a visual package. The Black Edition packs in £4,625 worth of features for a price uplift of just £1,780 over the Match trim. Final figure? £47,680 on the road. In the electric SUV segment, that’s competitive—especially for buyers who want premium feel without stretching into full luxury brand territory.

It’s aimed squarely at buyers who want something a bit more distinctive, without going full custom.
