Toyota Paints Outside the Lines (Again)
For the 2025 model year, Toyota doesn’t mess with the formula that’s working — instead, it makes it bolder. The 2025 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro WaveMaker debuts in a bright, unmistakable blue called Wave Maker, the newest entry in a long line of unique TRD Pro hues.
Wave Maker, developed by Toyota’s CALTY Design studio, replaces last year’s earth-toned MudBath with something that feels cooler, deeper, and more energetic. Think glacial water under full sunlight. It’s the 11th color in TRD Pro’s one-shade-per-year legacy — and it might be the most visually assertive one yet.
Still Packing the Hybrid Punch
No changes under the hood, but the hardware’s solid. The i-FORCE MAX hybrid system remains the star of the show — pairing a 3.4L twin-turbo V6 with a 48-hp electric motor for a combined 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque.
It’s hooked to a 10-speed automatic, driving all four wheels, and while this isn’t a dragstrip truck, it hauls confidently. Tows heavy, too — though that’s not the focal point here.
Fuel economy remains decent for something this large and upright — around 20 MPG combined, depending on configuration.
Built to Take a Beating — and Look Good Doing It
TRD Pro gear still includes 2.5-inch FOX shocks, skid plates, and all-terrain tires — a package aimed squarely at those who prefer dirt over pavement.
This isn’t a soft-roading trim. It’s built to do things in the real world. That said, the Wave Maker paint might make some owners pause before going full send through rocky trails.
Inside: All the Right Toys
Toyota didn’t skimp on interior tech. The cabin includes Toyota’s large-format infotainment system, plenty of storage, and materials that strike a decent balance between durable and upscale.
Driver-assist tech is covered with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, so adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, and pedestrian detection are standard.
Price and Arrival
Expect a starting MSRP just shy of $76,000 when it hits showrooms in fall 2025. The Wave Maker finish likely won’t cost extra, but its rarity could influence resale, as past TRD Pro colors have shown.
Toyota’s TRD Pro lineup isn’t about radical reinvention — and the Tundra TRD Pro WaveMaker proves they don’t need to. Just good gear, one great engine, and this year, one unforgettable color.
