2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro WaveMaker

By Team Dailyrevs

  • The 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro introduces a new exclusive color, Wave Maker, a striking shade of blue developed by Toyota's CALTY Design team.

  • Wave Maker will be available on TRD Pro versions of the 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia, with models expected to arrive at dealerships in fall 2025.

  • This marks the eleventh unique TRD Pro color since 2015, continuing Toyota's tradition of offering distinctive hues for its off-road-focused models.

A New Shade for the Off-Road Set

For 2025, Toyota’s giving the 4Runner TRD Pro a fresh coat of confidence — literally. The new Wave Maker paint option, developed by the CALTY Design team, brings an icy, adventurous vibe to Toyota’s off-road family. It’s a rich, almost glacial blue that feels purpose-built for the kind of buyers who don’t want to disappear into the mud but rather stand out in it.

It’s subtle in photos, bold in person. Exactly the kind of tone that catches late-day sunlight just right when parked at a trailhead.

The Tradition of TRD Pro Colors Continues

Toyota’s been running this unique color series since 2015, starting with Inferno and moving through fan favorites like Quicksand, Voodoo Blue, and Lunar Rock.

Wave Maker is the eleventh in line, and it brings a bit of a tone shift. After a few years of warm, earthy tones — Mudbath, Solar Octane, Terra — this blue feels like a reset. Something a little cooler, sharper. According to Toyota’s own designers, it’s inspired by “unexplored areas of adventure,” even beyond earth. That’s a bit cosmic, but the point lands: it’s made to evoke the unknown.

It’s Not Just the 4Runner Getting the Treatment

You won’t only find Wave Maker on the 4Runner. It’s headed to Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia TRD Pro models as well. All are expected to arrive in showrooms fall 2025.

The color doesn’t change what’s under the hood or what kind of suspension it runs — but it adds something visual to the mix. And Toyota knows exactly how much buyers care about this stuff. A good TRD Pro color becomes a conversation starter. Maybe even a collector point.

Designed to Stand Out, Not Just Blend In

Wave Maker’s appeal isn’t just aesthetic. It’s symbolic of Toyota’s approach to keeping its off-road line fresh without needing to fully reinvent the formula.

TRD Pro buyers know what they’re getting — Fox shocks, skid plates, blacked-out trims. The core hasn’t changed much. But color? That’s the easiest way to signal something new, even when the platform stays the same.

This new hue won’t make the 4Runner go any faster or climb any steeper. But it’ll make sure it looks damn good doing both.
