Design: Familiar Face, Sharper Identity
From a distance, the 2026 Tata Harrier.ev doesn’t scream “electric.” It wears the same muscular profile that’s made the diesel Harrier a common sight on Indian roads. But spend a little more time with it, and the electric cues begin to speak.
The front end gets a more polished, aero-efficient touch—cleaner lines, fewer vents, a full-width DRL strip. It’s a subtle update that doesn’t try too hard. At the back, a new light bar across the tailgate adds drama, but it’s not overdone. The EV stance is slightly lower, more planted, thanks to the battery sitting beneath the floor.
Performance: Strong, Quiet, and Quick
Tata’s dropped a 75 kWh battery pack into the Harrier.ev, promising 627 km of range (MIDC). That number puts it ahead of many direct rivals—and more importantly, it sounds usable for people who don’t want to think about charging every other day.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version is the showstopper. It puts out 390 bhp and 504 Nm of torque, good enough for a 0-100 km/h time of 6.3 seconds. That’s not just “good for an EV”—that’s genuinely quick, SUV or not.
Charging isn’t going to be painful either. With 120 kW DC fast-charging, it can top up from 20% to 80% in 25 minutes. Plug it in at night at home, or hit a fast charger for a quick top-up—it’s built to keep up with real life.
Interior: Screens, Sound, and Safety
Step inside, and the Harrier.ev lays it on thick. The 14.53-inch QLED touchscreen dominates the dashboard—huge, crisp, and thankfully not too glossy. There’s a matching 10.25-inch display behind the wheel and a head-up display to keep your eyes up.
Sound comes from a 10-speaker JBL system. Seats are ventilated. Everything’s touch-capacitive or digital. It’s a tech-forward cabin, but it doesn’t forget comfort.
And yes, safety is baked in. Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, 540° surround view camera, even a blind spot monitor—it’s all here. The Harrier.ev wants to feel like a premium product, and in this space, it mostly does.
The Competition: Entering a Crowded Ring
The Harrier.ev lands in a segment that’s starting to heat up fast. Mahindra’s XUV.e8 is coming. Hyundai’s got the Creta EV on the horizon. But Tata’s approach here is clear—give buyers a serious EV, but one that doesn’t feel alien. It still looks and drives like a Tata SUV.
Price and Launch
₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom) is where it starts. Bookings open July 2. There’ll be multiple variants—single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD—so buyers can find a sweet spot. If early response is strong, the Harrier.ev could very well set the pace for homegrown EV SUVs in India.
