2025 Porsche 963 RSP

By Team Dailyrevs

  • The 2025 Porsche 963 RSP is a one-off, street-legal adaptation of the Le Mans-winning 963 LMDh race car.

  • Inspired by the 1975 Count Rossi 917, it features a painted Martini Silver finish and a bespoke tan leather and Alcantara interior.

  • Mechanical adjustments, including softened suspension and reprogrammed electronics, make it suitable for limited road use.

A Tribute to Racing Heritage

In a remarkable fusion of past and present, Porsche has introduced the 2025 963 RSP—a singular, road-legal iteration of its 963 LMDh race car. This creation pays homage to the legendary Count Rossi 917, which famously journeyed from Zuffenhausen to Paris in 1975. The 963 RSP made its debut on public roads near the Circuit de la Sarthe, echoing the audacious spirit of its predecessor.

Design: Melding Classic and Contemporary

The 963 RSP stands out with its Martini Silver paint—a nod to the original 917—and uniquely altered bodywork. Unlike its race-bound counterparts, which typically sport wraps, this vehicle features a painted finish, a challenging feat given its carbon fiber and Kevlar® construction. The interior is equally bespoke, adorned with tan leather and Alcantara, reflecting the luxurious yet purposeful design ethos of the 917.

Engineering: Race Car Tamed for the Road

Underneath its refined exterior lies the heart of a racer. The 963 RSP retains the hybrid twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8 engine from the race car, delivering approximately 680 horsepower. However, modifications have been made to suit road conditions: the ride height has been increased, dampers softened, and the control unit reprogrammed for smoother power delivery. Additional features like a horn, license plate mounts, and adjusted lighting systems ensure compliance with road regulations.

A Singular Creation

This one-of-a-kind vehicle is the result of a collaboration between Porsche AG, Porsche Penske Motorsport, and Porsche Cars North America, with the initials "RSP" honoring motorsport legend Roger S. Penske. While not intended for mass production, the 963 RSP showcases Porsche's commitment to innovation and reverence for its racing legacy. It will be displayed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The 2025 Porsche 963 RSP is more than a car; it's a rolling testament to Porsche's racing heritage and engineering prowess. By bringing a Le Mans champion to the streets, Porsche offers a glimpse into what happens when passion meets precision.
