Design Tweaks That Do Just Enough
You’d be forgiven for thinking the 2025 NIO ES6 looks a lot like the last one. That’s kind of the point. But NIO’s made smart refinements here — the kind that reward a second glance. The X-Bar face remains, but now it’s tighter, more focused. The slim Double-Dash DRLs and new Smart Matrix headlights sharpen up the front end without making it fussy.
The side profile keeps the low-roof, long-body feel, and the flush door handles add to the clean lines. Out back, the hidden rear wiper is a neat touch — not flashy, just tidy. Overall, it's sleeker but still unmistakably ES6.
Powertrain Delivers Where It Counts
Underneath, the 2025 ES6 is all dual-motor AWD — 150 kW at the front, 210 kW at the rear, for a combined 360 kW and 700 Nm. That translates to 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, which is more than enough shove for a mid-size SUV.
Battery options remain a talking point. The 75 kWh and 100 kWh packs carry over, with the new 150 kWh pack extending range up to a claimed 930 km (CLTC). That’s generous on paper — we’ll see what real-world numbers look like — but it definitely helps reduce range anxiety, especially for long-distance drivers.
Inside: Simple Layout, Smart Touches
The cabin gets a subtle overhaul, focusing on simplicity. The main interface is now a horizontal touchscreen — it cleans up the look and lowers the sightline. There’s also a panoramic sunroof that stretches wide enough to actually make a difference in the overall feel of space inside.
Rear passengers aren’t left out either. A 6.6-inch HDR touchscreen lets them adjust their own climate and media. The vibe? Minimalist, but not barren. More thoughtful than dramatic.
Tech-wise, it’s all handled by NIO’s Aquila sensor suite and ADAM computing platform. Tons of sensors. Plenty of brainpower. You get LiDAR, cameras, and radar working together for ADAS functions like adaptive cruise, lane centering, and hands-off features in select conditions.
Where It Fits — And Who It’s For
With a starting price of RMB 338,000 (roughly $47,000 USD), the ES6 slots into the premium EV segment comfortably. Think Tesla Model Y, Polestar 3, maybe the XPeng G6 if you’re shopping local.
It’s not trying to shout. No wild light shows or edgy bodywork here. Just a solid, good-looking SUV with enough power, range, and tech to make a strong case for itself.
If the previous ES6 felt like a proof of concept, this one feels like it’s grown into itself. Confident, but not loud about it.
