The 2025 Mazda EZ-6 Sports Edition introduces a sportier aesthetic with black exterior trim and red brake calipers, targeting younger drivers.
-
Available in both battery electric (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) configurations, offering CLTC ranges up to 600 km and 1,301 km respectively.
-
Interior enhancements include black Alcantara upholstery with red stitching, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, and a 14-speaker Sony audio system.
A Sportier Take on Mazda’s New Electric Sedan
The 2025 Mazda EZ-6 Sports Edition doesn’t radically alter the formula, but it gives the EV sedan a bit more presence — and attitude. The blacked-out trim around the windows, bumpers, and grille is a subtle tweak, but it changes the vibe.
Throw in red brake caliper covers, a more aggressive front grille with split-structure lighting, and you’ve got something that feels purpose-built for a younger buyer. There’s even an optional illuminated Mazda badge if you’re into that sort of thing. The overall design still leans elegant, but this version has a sharper edge.
Two Electric Flavors: BEV or Extended-Range
Mazda’s not making buyers choose between looks and powertrain flexibility. The EZ-6 Sports Edition is available as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) or an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) — both rear-wheel-drive.
The BEV version gets a 190 kW motor, with range options of 480 km or 600 km, depending on the battery pack. If range anxiety’s a thing, the EREV setup is worth noting — it combines a 1.5L engine with a 160 kW electric motor, offering up to 1,301 km of CLTC-rated range when the gas tank and battery are full.
Mazda says the BEV version can fast-charge from 30% to 80% in around 15 minutes, though that’s under ideal conditions, as usual.
Inside: Alcantara, Sony Sound, and a Big Screen
The cabin carries the sporty theme without going overboard. You get black Alcantara seats with red contrast stitching, which look as good as they feel. The center console and vents are finished in dark trim, giving everything a clean, cohesive feel.
There’s a 14.6-inch touchscreen powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chip, a 14-speaker Sony sound system, and a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display. Add in 64-color ambient lighting and reclining front seats, and this isn’t just sporty — it’s comfortable, too.
Where It Fits in the Growing EV Market
The EZ-6 Sports Edition doesn’t try to outrun Tesla or shock the world with performance numbers. It’s more about offering a stylish, flexible alternative in a segment that’s growing fast — especially in China, where this car is being built through Mazda’s Changan partnership.
Think of it as a sportier option for buyers who want to go electric but aren’t ready to give up personality. It’s not loud, but it stands out. And sometimes, that’s enough.
