2025 Geely Haoyue R7
By Team Dailyrevs June 23, 2025
The 2025 Geely Haoyue R7 is an EREV compact SUV with swappable battery tech—rare combo.
-
It borrows styling from the Livan 7, with through-type lamps and coupe-esque proportions.
-
Comes with a 1.5L range-extender, 110 hp electric motor, and latest battery rental option.
Familiar Shape, New Powertrain Twist
On first glance, the 2025 Geely Haoyue R7 looks a lot like the Livan 7—same sloping hatchback SUV shape, same slim front-to-rear light strips. But this isn’t just a rebadge. The Haoyue R7 adds a 1.5 L range-extender (110 hp) to the mix, while retaining the swappable LFP battery that Livan swapped. It’s a hybrid that you can refuel or swap out in minutes—a niche twist for commuters.
Proportions Hint at Crossover Elegance
Geely kept the Livan sizing (4,680 × 1,892 × 1,650 mm) and long 2,778 mm wheelbase. Those flowing surfaces and taut roofline give it a sleek liftback profile, not a boxy compact SUV. With a curb weight between 1,760–1,960 kg, it’s heavier than its EV cousin, but the stance remains tidy and poised rather than plunging into golf-tee squat.
Range-Extender with Flexibility Built-In
Power comes from Geely’s 1.5 L naturally aspirated petrol engine (82 kW/110 hp) as a range-extending generator. The electric motor that drives the wheels is the same spec as on the Livan 7—battery-swappable LFP tech. Most notably: buyers can purchase the car without battery, opting into Geely’s swapping network. It’s a bold shift in EV ownership thinking—keep the car, subscribe for juice.
Top speed is 185 km/h, which is plenty for long highway miles. Geely hasn't released full range or efficiency figures yet, but this versatility suggests solid real-world usability.
Trim and Feature Notes
Geely declared two trim levels, slightly varying in weight. R7 adds style options: hidden door handles, dual-tone paint, and a front-camera setup that Livan lacked. It rolls on 18″ tires, either 215/60R17 or 215/55R18 depending on trim.
Context: Niche Meets Mainstream
Haoyue R7 will go head-to-head with EV stars like BYD Dolphin and Geely’s own Xingyuan, but with a twist. Instead of pure battery EV, it brings range extender coverage and swap convenience. For buyers unsure about pure EV or facing long-range routes, this hybrid approach could hit the sweet spot.
Battery-swapping has mostly been Tesla or Nio territory. Seeing it on a hybrid makes the Haoyue R7 unique—EV flexibility, petrol backup.
Global Watchlist
Currently unveiled in China, it's expected on sale in late 2025 after MIIT approval. A global rollout isn’t confirmed, but as Geely leverages evolved platforms like GEA, exporting this flexible EREV style could appeal in emerging EV markets where chargers lag behind.
