2025 Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV

By Team Dailyrevs

  • Plug-in hybrid system with up to 1,600 km total range and 130 km electric-only range.

  • Equipped with G-Pilot driver-assistance system, including lidar and multiple sensors.

  • Starting price approximately $17,400 USD, positioning it competitively in the hybrid sedan market.

Proportions That Stretch the Segment

The 2026 Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV looks big because, well, it is. Just over five meters long (5,018 mm), nearly two meters wide, and low-slung at 1,480 mm in height — it's not trying to be anonymous. The fastback silhouette is smooth, almost coupe-like in profile, while the front end wears a narrow headlight and LED light strip combo that gives it a clean, high-tech look.

Hidden door handles and a lidar puck up on the roof confirm this is a tech-forward car. But it doesn’t try to be flashy about it. The stance is confident, wheels pushed toward the corners, and the surfacing is tight.

Two Powertrains, Two Flavors of Hybrid

Geely’s offering buyers two ways into the plug-in game here.

The EM-P variant combines a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a 160 kW electric motor, putting down a total of 280 kW (that’s 375 hp in old money) and 605 Nm of torque. It hits 0–100 km/h in 6.49 seconds — solidly quick for something this size — and gets 130 km of pure electric driving from its 18.4 kWh battery. Combined range? 1,500 km.

The slightly tamer EM-i setup uses a less powerful 1.5L engine (82 kW) and a more modest motor, putting out 257 kW and 398 Nm. It's slower to 100 km/h (about 7.9 seconds) but bumps total range to 1,600 km — not a typo.

Interior: Big Screens and Big Comfort

If you’re expecting a stripped-down cabin at this price, think again. The Starshine 8 gets a 15.4-inch central display, a 10.2-inch digital cluster, and a 25.6-inch augmented reality HUD. Flyme Auto handles the interface, running on Geely’s own Dragon Eagle-1 chip — fast and fluid, at least on paper.

There’s wireless charging, a 23-speaker audio system, and all the usual comfort touches: heated and ventilated seats, massage function, ambient lighting. It’s not sparse in here — it leans luxury, even if the materials don’t quite match top-tier sedans.

G-Pilot and Lidar-Based Driver Assist

The Starshine 8 isn’t just loaded inside — it’s smart on the outside too. The G-Pilot suite includes a roof-mounted lidar, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 10 cameras. That gets you lane keeping, adaptive cruise, and advanced automated parking.

It's not quite self-driving, but it’s aimed at reducing the grind of traffic and tight parking spaces. Especially in crowded Chinese cities — where this car’s clearly been built to live.

Aggressive Price, Practical Appeal

Starting around $17,400 USD, the 2026 Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV undercuts most rivals while offering more range and tech than many. It’s not trying to out-wow luxury buyers — it’s here to make plug-in hybrids feel like the rational upgrade, not the stretch.
