BYD has introduced the Lingyuan intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system, allowing users to operate a vehicle-mounted drone through an in-car control application or a mobile app. This system enables functions such as one-touch takeoff, intelligent return, in-motion deployment, and real-time driving photography. Designed for outdoor adventures, road condition monitoring, traffic analysis, and emergency rescue, this technology enhances vehicle utility. The 2025 Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 8 Drone Version, equipped with this system, was officially launched with a price range of 395,800 to 423,800 yuan.
A defining feature of the Leopard 8 Drone Version is the dedicated drone cabin integrated into its roof. Built as an off-road SUV, this model is designed for users who prioritize all-terrain capability while also seeking advanced drone-assisted exploration. The seamless integration of the Lingyuan intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system enhances the SUV’s ability to capture aerial perspectives of remote landscapes. Additionally, a new Snow Peak White interior color has been introduced for this variant.
BYD had previously introduced a vehicle-mounted drone kit as an option for the Yangwang U8 Off-Road Player Version, available at an additional cost of 100,000 yuan. This kit featured automated takeoff and landing, intelligent storage, battery replacement, and charging management. The newly launched Lingyuan system is a more compact version but does not include an automatic battery replacement function, only supporting direct charging. Officially named the "Lingyuan Fast-Charging Drone Cabin," it allows for dynamic drone deployment at speeds of up to 25 km/h and features omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, follow-me tracking, and automated aerial photography.
