About the Car

2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible

Chevrolet has introduced the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, featuring the most powerful V8 engine ever produced by an American manufacturer. The ZR1's specs and design challenge the world's best supercars, available in both coupe and convertible variants.

  • The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 features the most powerful V8 engine ever produced by an American manufacturer, the LT7.
  • The LT7 engine is a 5.5L twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crank V8, producing 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque.
  • The Corvette ZR1 has a GM-estimated top speed of over 215 mph and a quarter-mile time of under 10 seconds.
  • The ZR1 includes a carbon fiber aero package that generates over 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed.
  • Unique features of the LT7 engine include optimized valve train timing, a new intake system, and dual ball bearing turbochargers.
  • The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been upgraded to handle the increased power of the LT7 engine.
  • Aerodynamic enhancements such as a flow-through hood and carbon fiber air ducts improve cooling and performance.
  • The optional ZTK performance package adds a high-downforce rear wing, front dive planes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
  • The ZR1's new brake system uses carbon ceramic rotors for increased durability and reduced temperatures.
  • The Corvette ZR1 will enter production in 2025 at General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly Plant, joining the Corvette Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray in the lineup.

Engine and Performance

The Corvette ZR1 is powered by a 5.5L, twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crank V8 engine, known as the LT7. This engine produces 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, marking the highest power output from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 produced in America. The ZR1 boasts a GM-estimated top speed of over 215 mph and a quarter-mile time of under 10 seconds.

Carbon Fiber Aero Package

The ZR1 features a carbon fiber aero package, generating over 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed. The iconic split rear window style returns, enhancing both function and design.

Pushing the Boundaries of Engine Development

The LT7 engine builds upon the LT6 architecture from the Z06, incorporating twin turbochargers. Unique features of the 5.5L LT7 include:

  • Head castings with unique ports and larger combustion chamber
  • Optimized valve train timing and lift profile
  • New intake system tuned for twin turbochargers
  • CNC machined combustion chamber, exhaust, and intake ports
  • Dual ball bearing turbochargers with electronic wastegates
  • Intelligent anti-lag engine calibration

Transmission Enhancements

To support the increased power, the Corvette ZR1’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been upgraded, including:

  • Inner and outer input shaft enhancements
  • Strengthened gears via shot peening
  • Refined final drive
  • Improved oil management
  • Increased control valves for higher clutch clamp load

Aerodynamics and Cooling

The ZR1's aerodynamics provide the highest downforce ever for a Corvette, with features including:

  • Flow-through hood for increased front downforce and cooling
  • Carbon fiber side profile air ducts for rear brake cooling
  • Unique fresh air intake ducts for turbo compressor cooling

ZR1 Track Performance

The ZR1’s optional ZTK performance package adds a high-downforce rear wing, front dive planes, and a tall hood Gurney lip. Underbody strakes increase front downforce. Testing at tracks like the Nürburgring and Virginia International Raceway demonstrated the ZR1's capabilities.

Brake System and Design Elements

The new brake system uses carbon ceramic rotors for increased durability and reduced temperatures. Front rotors measure 15.7 inches and rear rotors 15.4 inches. The ZR1 goes from 80-200 mph and back to 80 mph in 24.5 seconds, significantly quicker than previous models.

Design and Customization

The ZR1 features a carbon fiber roof, unique aluminum wheel designs, and optional carbon-fiber wheels to reduce mass. The cockpit includes ZR1 badging, a unique stitch pattern, and a boost gauge. New exterior colors like Competition Yellow, Hysteria Purple, and Sebring Orange are available, along with new interior options and racing stripes.

Production and Availability

The Corvette ZR1 will enter production in 2025 at General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky. It joins the Corvette Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray in the lineup. Further details on pricing and availability will be shared closer to production.

Notable Performance Achievements

  • The ZR1 achieved a faster peak speed on its first lap at the Milford Proving Ground's MRC test track than the production C7 ZR1.
  • Engineers recorded a sub-10-second quarter-mile time on the ZR1’s first launch.
  • All test drivers exceeded 200 mph peak speed on their initial laps at the Nürburgring.
