2024 Buick Electra E4

Buick today continued the expansion of its electric vehicle lineup in China with the launch of the Electra E4 premium electric coupe SUV.

The brand’s second EV developed on the Ultium platform features Buick’s enhanced styling and versatility along with the Virtual Cockpit System and available Super Cruise driver assist technology. The Electra E4 is also the first electrified model being offered with a sporty GS variant.

The Electra E4 comes standard with two-wheel drive. The top-of-the-range GS model offers all-wheel drive and an enhanced range. The four Electra E4 variants are priced between RMB 189,900 and RMB 259,900. The model is being rolled out at Buick EV City Galleries and EV Zones at showrooms nationwide, with deliveries starting soon.

Ultium-based performance and safety

Thanks to the state-of-the-art Ultium platform, the Electra E4 fully integrates GM’s global EV expertise and local innovation for outstanding performance, safety and sustainability.

The standard variant’s battery pack has a capacity of 65 kWh, providing a CLTC range of up to 530 km on a single charge. Its permanent magnet synchronous motor in front delivers maximum power of 180 kW and maximum torque of 330 Nm, while enabling energy consumption as low as 13.4 kWh/100 km.

The GS AWD variant features an additional induction asynchronous motor in the rear, providing maximum power of 211 kW and maximum torque of 465 Nm, along with a CLTC range of 620 km on a single charge. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds.

A range of Ultium technologies enhance battery safety and EV performance. They include tailored battery cell chemistry, the BEV HEAT thermal management system, the nearly wireless Battery Management System and an optimized battery pack structural design. The Electra E4 meets GM’s global EV standards and has undergone stringent durability and safety testing, including fall, compression and nail penetration tests.

Spirited handling with multiple driving modes

The Electra E4 has multiple driving modes to suit individual preferences. One-pedal driving supports enhanced energy saving to extend the electric range. It can be switched off to provide driving and handling similar to that of gasoline-powered vehicles.

A MacPherson front suspension and a five-link independent rear suspension, combined with a nearly 50:50 front and rear axle load ratio, make steering a breeze when changing lanes, in addition to maximizing comfort, stability and the fun-to-drive experience.

Buick’s advanced intelligent driver assistance systems come standard as well. They include Full Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control and Hands-on Lane Centering Assist. The new generation of the Super Cruise driver assist technology is available on the GS AWD variant.

Expressive exterior and interior styling

The Electra E4 adopts the same PURE Design philosophy that premiered on the celebrated Electra-X concept. Its length of 4,818 mm, width of 1,912 mm and height of 1,581 mm give it a wider yet lower stance. The Ultium platform has enabled an extra-long wheelbase of 2,954 mm, adding to the sleek proportions and generous cabin space.

Similar to the Electra-X concept, the Electra E4 comes with modernized Buick wing-shaped headlamps, thinner LED daytime running lights, an expressive grille and a body-mounted new Buick badge. The refined and layered look of the front end further illustrates the electric coupe SUV’s strong, confident personality.

An aerodynamically favorable design characterized by a floating roof, hidden electric door handles and a nearly unified underbody contributes to the Electra E4’s form-based sculptural surfacing. In back are an integrated tailgate design, a roof and rear spoiler, and unique taillamp trim detailing, which are attractive and support the outstanding drag coefficient. The integrated horizontal taillamp visually widens the vehicle and utilizes advanced lighting technology.

The available GS design package includes a unique black crystal grille with high-gloss black-plated trim, darkened exterior mirrors and window accents to reinforce its sportiness. It is also equipped with all-new 20-inch two-color dynamic wheels featuring aerodynamic inserts and Brembo calipers that offer an even more premium visual effect and optimized braking.

Spacious and functional cabin

The interior of the Electra E4 reflects its exclusive combination of function and style through the use of premium materials, distinct colors and elevated craftsmanship.

The streamlined center console with 4.1 liters of open storage space has a floating design that extends the visual width and delivers a lightweight feeling. Users will also enjoy the segment-leading headroom in the front and outstanding headroom and knee space in the second row, together with the 28 storage spaces and 441 liters of trunk space.

The standard Electra E4 is available in four interior colors. Trim strips and piping with eye-catching bluish-purple gradient elements adorn the seats, door panels and instrument panel accents, highlighting the futuristic digital aesthetics.

Other premium and comfort features include Buick’s signature QuietTuning technology, 121-color ambient lighting, a new 1.2-square meter panoramic roof and double-layer flowing air conditioning.

The interior of the GS models has unique details, such as signature GS graphics with laser etching on trim panels, illuminated sill plates and premium suede. The exclusive bronze color scheme refines Buick's warm and powerful tone. The GS AWD variant also has exclusive front bucket-style sports seats featuring a black and white contrasting color design and three-dimensional back panels for enhanced support, comfort and sportiness.

Intelligent and intuitive connectivity

The Electra E4 comes with the all-new Buick Virtual Cockpit System featuring an EYEMAX 30-inch integrated curved screen. The driver-centric display has 6K resolution and supports over-the-air updates for multiple modules at the same time.

Additionally, Buick’s latest connectivity system has been optimized, giving customers access to multimedia content through a redesigned user interface. The multi-screen display can be switched seamlessly through gesture control. Its intuitive operation and customer-centric intelligent experience take connectivity to the next level.
