2024 Aeolus L7
On March 30, Dongfeng’s Aeolus brand debuted its first plug-in hybrid SUV called the L7, not to be confused with Li Auto’s Li L7 or the Geely Galaxy L7 SUV. Previously, the L7 was declared by the Chinese MIIT under the Haohan PHEV name. The new car will appear at the Beijing Auto Show that opens on April 25.
In the next three years, Dongfeng Aeolus plans to launch 30 new energy passenger vehicles and 14 new energy commercial vehicles to achieve its 100% electrification goal.
Positioned as a compact SUV, the new car measures 4685/1905/1625 mm, with a 2775 mm wheelbase, a curb weight of 1800 kg, and runs on optional 235/55R19 105V tires.
Notable design elements include a suspended roof, hidden door handles, slender headlights in the closed front face, hidden exhaust outlets, and a high-mounted brake light in the rear.
Power comes from Dongfeng’s Mach plug-in hybrid system composed of a 113 kW 1.5T engine and an electric motor model DFMC15TE3, with a combined power of 265 kW and a torque of 615 Nm. The comprehensive fuel consumption is 0.56 L per 100 km (WLTC). Its 30.32 kWh lithium iron phosphate supplied by CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery Co., Ltd) provides a comprehensive range of 1,500 km and a pure electric range of 205 km. Fast charging is also supported. It takes 26 minutes to replenish from 30% to 80% or five minutes of charging time to reach a 300 km range.
The interior configurations have not been officially confirmed. Entering the cockpit, the orange vibe is energetic with a minimal number of physical buttons. The large floating central control screen and the D-shaped steering wheel are eye-catching. Above the central control screen are two air-conditioning outlets.
