For the 2021 model year, a number of design updates have been made to the awardwinning design of the S90. Up front, the new front fascia, with updated grille and iconic Volvo Ironmark, makes a bold statement. In the rear, similar updates to the rear fascia and trunklid create a cohesive look, and new taillights with welcome sequence catch the eye. New colors, upholsteries, interior trims, and wheel designs add a degree of elegant customization.
In every S90 the long wheelbase provides best-in class standard rear seat legroom, and the panoramic moonroof floods the cabin with natural light. With available heated, ventilated Nappa leather seats in the front and rear, the S90 provides a luxury experience for drivers and passengers alike. Combined with 400 hybrid horsepower, intuitive technology, and Scandinavian sensibility, the S90 is a truly modern luxury car.
The S90 is based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and like all SPA vehicles it features:
• A beautifully sculpted exterior design with long wheelbase and luxury proportions
• Driver-oriented interior with a clear Scandinavian design influence featuring natural materials
• Volvo Sensus Infotainment technology with large touchscreen and patented user interface
• Advanced driver assistance systems like Pilot Assist, Run-Off Road Mitigation, Large Animal Detection, and Connected Safety
• Leading active and passive safety systems

2021 Volvo S90 Front View 3/4
Sensus Connect has three different ways of communicating information to the driver. Important and crucial safety information is displayed in the windscreen via an optional Heads-Up display or the Digital Driver Display. Information and commands that can be taken care of at the driver’s discretion are displayed in the 9” Sensus Touchscreen in the center console.
Apple Car Play
Sensus Connect’s standard Apple CarPlay app makes it possible to access an iPhone (5 or later), via the car’s 9” Sensus Touchscreen center display. The iPhone can be controlled via the touch screen or by ‘Siri’ voice commands via the car’s audio system. Volvo’s integration of CarPlay via the four-tile layout is unique in that it does not take over the entire screen. Drivers still have all vehicle functions available while CarPlay is running.
Android Auto
Similar to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto comes standard and makes it possible to access an Android smart phone (5.0 Lollipop or higher) via the car’s central touch screen and voice commands using Google speech technology. Android Auto is designed for a horizontal view, which means it only takes up the lower part of our large 9” vertical screen.
Bowers & Wilkins Premium Sound
Created to deliver the most realistic, immersive sound possible, the Bowers & Wilkins Premium Sound system delivers exceptional clarity and realism to your music – wherever you’re seated. Seamlessly integrated in the cabin architecture of your Volvo, the 4:15 digital amplifier, an astonishing 1,400W output and 19 separate high-end speakers – including a tweeter-on-top center speaker that adds to a pure, detailed treble performance – will surround you with a pristine sound that feels more spacious and true to life than ever. Bowers & Wilkins’ exclusive Nautilus Technology reduces noise resonance for an incredibly detailed and engaging listening experience. Several speaker upgrades, such as new Double-Dome aluminium tweeters and the new generation mid-range speaker cones in “Continuum” composite, give an even more relaxed listening experience with a smoother and more natural, less colored sound reproduction. And to enable extremely low and undistorted bass tones, the air-ventilated subwoofer uses innovative technology that allows it to pulse enormous amounts of air – without encroaching on load space. Four room modes allow you to recreate the acoustics of a specific room inside your Volvo, bringing you even closer to the music. The room mode ‘Concert Hall’ recreates the unique acoustic experience of the world-famous Gothenburg Concert Hall, while ‘Jazz Club’ resembles the intimacy of a downtown jazz club. High-end stainless steel speaker grilles and elegantly visible “Continuum” silver cones match the quality and craftsmanship of the rest of the S90’s cabin.

All-Wheel Drive System
AWD (All-Wheel Drive) is standard on the S90 T6. A compact and lightweight coupling distributes the engine’s power between the front and rear wheels. Under normal, dry conditions practically all of the power is distributed to the front wheels. The system constantly calculates the need for torque and can instantly redistribute up to 50 percent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels.
When at a standstill, full all-wheel drive is
always engaged to prepare for maximum traction during
acceleration.
Safety Technology Highlights
Pilot Assist Driver Assistance System
Pilot Assist is a driver’s aid that assists with steering, acceleration and braking. It is a hands-on-thewheel driving assistance system where the driver is responsible for monitoring the road conditions and reacting if necessary. It works on highways and at speeds up to 80 mph, no longer requiring a car in front of it to follow. The system is best used to reduce the stress drivers often report in stop-and-go commuter traffic.
BLIS with Steer Assist and rear Cross Traffic Alert
BLIS alerts you when a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches fast from behind. If you nonetheless drift into the path of another vehicle, BLIS™ can gently steer you back into your lane. Cross Traffic Alert is included on all vehicles equipped with BLIS, and alerts you of crossing traffic from the sides when reversing out of a parking space.

Oncoming Lane Mitigation
The system helps the driver avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle by automatically steering. If the car drifts over a lane marking, heading into the path of an oncoming vehicle and the driver takes no action, this system automatically steers the car back. The system is active at speeds between 37 and 87 mph. The driver gets an audible warning signal at the same time as the car starts to steer back. A message is shown in the Driver display after the steering intervention has been completed. The driver can override the automatic steering at any time.
